Nintendo Power Magazines 1988-1997 Complete Worth?

Long time member here, I just have been very active that last couple years due to kids and life in general. I have been a long time collector of NES, SNES & SMS games. I also have my collection of Nintendo Power Magazines that I have collected over the years. I have every issue from 1988 to 1997. Almost every issue is complete with poster, trading cards etc..... I am a pretty particualr when it game to collecting these mags. I would say most of thes magazines are in very good shape with a few with dog ear corners.

My question for all of you are as is.

What is the whole collection worth?

Would I be better off breaking them up by year? If so, what would the breakdown of each year be worth?

The three 1988 magazines I would sell indivivudally as I know those three issues would be woth the most.

What are the value of each of them indivdiaully?

  • Ebay is your friend. You can find each issue has a sold listing. From your description. Good condition. All complete. Issue 1 $50. 2-7 $30 each. The rest could be $10-15 each
  • /\ hmmm. Pretty high estimate, IMO. Good if you can get it, of course. But I wouldn't expect to. I got #1-83 (1996), in solid condition (mostly complete with posters, cards, other extras... few folds or bends, no tears... etc) 3 years ago in an open eBay auction for $220. Add maybe 50% considering market increase since then, and at best $1 or 2 for the later issues. Now if you're ready to list them all individually, and sit forever on those after #40 or 50... certainly one day you might find buyers for one at a time at $10-15 each. But all together, in one shot, I would list 5 or 600 and take 4. Plus shipping.
  • You might be able to move certain post-1991 issues at $10-15, but no way you would average that.

I would say for 1991 on, try $50 per year. Earlier than that sell individual issues.

You need to keep in mind that right around issue 18 or so is when Nintendo was running the promo for a free Dragon Warrior when you subscribed for a year, so there's probably a bunch of those in collector hands already.

As far as expertise, I've watched these sit at shows (with posters) at $3 each. And they survived a couple shows.

Now is the time to move them for peeps looking on ebay for unique Christmas gifts.
  • Thanks for all of the info. they are up on ebay now.

I recall that they stated it was the best promotion that they ever ran so yes.
