Techniques for avoiding dust particles.

I'm currently working on two projects and I'm having a bit of trouble on how I should proceed.

The first project is reassembling a GBC screen and screen cover.

The second is applying a new screen protector to my new 3DS.

The house I live in is a dusty disaster, especially with animals running around. It doesn't help that I have a moderate case of OCD when it comes to dust.

Now I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a place or a way to avoid trapping dust! Both inbetween the GBC screen/cover and the 3DS screen/protector.

No matter how I've tried to avoid it in the past, it always finds a way between both and I've just about given up.

Does anyone have any advice or techniques that have worked for them? (besides saying "just deal with it")

  • the only trick I know is installing screen protectors in the bathroom: letting the shower run and letting the steam weigh down any dust particles.

Works every time as far as dust is concerned however the room can get a tad bit moist. Running the vent/fan and waiting a couple minutes should help tremendously. I got a bit too eager last time and forgot to do this
  • Getting an air purifier will help. I have no experience myself, but my mom has one and she says it is a huge difference
  • Do you have a job where you could go in early and do some work? That's what I tend to do, usually.
  • Having canned air or an air compressor with an appropriate nozzle handy to spray air will help with dropping lenses above LCDs and keeping the dust out (or removing it with much prejudice). The shower trick is great for screen protectors, but not as great when you've got exposed electronics and are trying to piece something back together dust-free. The best solution is to work in as good a light as possible so you can see any dust that creeps in and then use your preferred method of removal (mine mentioned previously) to get it out before sealing everything up.
  • ^what he said
  • I also live in Minnesota, and we are known to get snow.

Does anyone know if snow cover in an outdoor environment has an effect on reducing airborn particles?

I've done the shower trick applying a screen protector to my WiiU Gamepad, 3DS screens, and my mom's iPhone. I've gotten a perfect install each time.
