Game Boy Label Variant
I have been collecting game boy games for a while now and one thing I have found is that there is limited info out there about games. Well today I was looking at buying a game called Turn and Burn: The F-14 Dogfight Simulator. Now this game is nothing unusual. However, I noticed that every label I could find (ebay, google images, pricing websites) was a USA - 1. Now when I see a -1 on a label I assume it means reprint or second label run or something like that. My question is: Can anyone confirm that this game only had a -1 release and if there are any other games like this? If you have a non -1 please post a pic of it. Thank you!

Update: I may have found the solution/possible answer to this: in the U.K. they had a game with the same code (DMG-UR). However this game was called Phantom Air Mission. Now since it is a U.K. game it has the UKV for the region. Maybe this game was first in U.K. and then came over to the U.S. under a different name. Maybe this was the reason for the -1 only labels.

2nd Update: I found a picture of the game with a non -1 label.

Future Google-ers will thank you.
I hope so! Theres other games that are in a similar situation. Im glad I am helping fill in the gaps. Game boy is very limited on info.
I'll give you another good one-- the ever so common Space Invaders. There's a -1 and -2. I've never seen an "original". I've semi-frequently search eBay and I don't think it exists. My hunch is that the work was drawn up, it was about about to be released and then at the last minuted they edited the label, possibly after the first batch of labels were printed, but never used, and decided to slap the Super Game Boy compatibly logo on it.
Interesting... I too am on a quest to complete the GB set and I want all variants (good luck with that -1 Kid Dracula). I didn't realize this was another odd ball.

I have heard of the space invaders issue with the label. I will probably pick up a -1 label but ill keep looking for a non -1. On a side note I would love to create a database for board pics and label pics. I dont have the resources or know how to do it but I would love to help someone try.

-1 is because of the TM (trade mark) added to the "Turn and Burn" name.
There are 3 box variants for this game:
Non -
-1
-2
I see that you and I have traded comments on games and variants in the past. Just curious, are you looking for a complete set with variants or are you just trying to get the first version of all games?
I am going for a complete first version of all games.
