River City: Rival Showdown freezing issue

I'm curious to know if anyone is having similar issue or has any suggestion for a problems I'm having. I preordered River City: Rival Showdown for DS a few months ago and it finally came on Tuesday. When I inserted the cart everything was great for 2 seconds until it got to a screen saying creating save data where it froze for literally 5+ minutes before I shut it down. I tried the game in 3 other DS and have the same problem in them all. I returned the game to Amazon believing it to be defective and the replacement cartridge arrived today but has the same issue. I searched the net but couldn't find anyone else complaining so asking...is anyone else having this issue?
