PPU Check or replacement source

Hello,

So it seems my NES toaster has a bad PPU (white screen with some garbled characters when loading a game) Do any of you know how i can test the PPU to be sure and also where could i find a replacement?

Thank you all.

Peter

  • If you can't find a replacement on ebay, then you basically have to steal it from another console. Don't jump to assuming it's a bad PPU. Frontloaders have multiple failure points that should be looked at first. 72pin being number 1. The lockout chip, capacitors, vram, and trace damage as well. Every PPU I have come across that was legitimately dead would get extremely hot when the console was powered on. Hot enough to burn you from a short touch.
