2018 New Years Resolution Challenge

2018 New Years Resolution Challenge!!

I thought this would be a fun thread because I do better meeting goals I set for myself when others are trying to meet theirs and we are working together.

One thing I fought hard with was weight loss this year. Finally losing the last 50 pounds of a 100 pound weight loss journey.

Anyone needing help or encouragement on your journey this year feel free to reach out. I know how hard it can be.

Heres the deal. Set a goal for 2018. It doesnt have to be something huge!! Weight loss, Quit smoking, reduce debt, random acts of kindness etc. Anything to improve yourself!!

Call it out in the thread and I will keep a running list. When you complete your goal let me know and I will cross you out as completed. Even if its a months challenge of something. 30 days of doing something can become

  • 1. I'm going to weigh 214 at some point in 2018 (currently 250).

    2. Do less for others. (It sounds strange but I've been spreading my self thin with how much time/money I donate to others. Looking to focus back on close relationships this year.

    3. Get to 94% completion on both NES and SNES CIB sets. (Currently at 88.5% NES and 89.5% SNES).

I can toss all three on the running list in different spots. Sounds like some very good things to work on!!

I can relate on the spreading yourself thin. Sometimes the ones that suffer the most are the

    ones closest to us.

The 1st one would be plenty fine. Honestly, I’m probably suffering more than those around me, but don’t feel bad, my life is still awesome as hell.

Yeah, I have no problem losing weight when I try. Went from 259 to 220 a year ago today in 2 months. Going to focus on keeping it off this time.

  • I almost hit my goal this year, things got in the way.

This year I plan on losing 30 pounds, that's 2.5 pounds per month.

I'll also consider keeping it interesting by donating $1 to St. Judes for every pound lost this year, capping it at $1000 again.

Edit: I need to add, I almost hit my goal at one point. But I gained it all back and probably more. Gonna weigh in on January 1.
  • Since I'm already showing an interest in doing it...I think I might just be able to do it next year finally...I'm going to face my fear and learn to drive.

But learning how to drive doesn't mean I'm going to go out there and drive...I'll just...be able to do it.

I may or may not get a license. It depends on if I get panic attacks every time I try to drive...like I used to when I first started, which is why I never fucking well finished.
  • Every time I get a rock in my shoe I'm gonna by to try and get it out.

I am from Iowa and we have a shit ton of gravel roads so this sounds like no easy feet. Pun intended. Locked in!!

  • My new year's resolution is to build my credit.
  • I want to lose 22lbs in 2018.  That will get me below obese level.  I also don't want to consume any alcohol for the month of February this year. If I can pull it off without a hitch I'll try for more, but 28 days without is a good start.
  • 1. Weigh between 210-215 consistently (currently about 230).

    2. Do actual extended exercise more than once a week.
  • #1. I'm looking to get my weight under 200 (I've already lost 18 pounds since October.. got about 25 more to go.)

    #2. kickstart my comic book!
  • I wasn't gonna participate at first until I saw the part about prizes. My aspiration is to start community college by the end of the year. So write me down.
  • Eh... let me see...

Put 30 pounds worth of muscle (nigh impossible since putting on weight is impossible).

Get top 8 in at least one Capcom Pro Tour SFV tournament.

Sounds like a great goal!!! I excercise as much as I can. I just feel better. It ususally amounts to a coupe times a week on the elliptical. Got you locked in!

Very awesome to see anyone work on losing some weight. I know the struggle. You got this. No alcohol for a month is also awesome. I do not like to talk much about it but I used to be a heavy drinker. Have not had a drink in about 2.5 years. Got you locked in and good luck to you!! You got this!!

Yeah. I love sports but hate running, weightlifting, etc., so I need a group to play with. I used to be more involved with a group, but I got busy and my wife is pregnant, so I fell off that track pretty hard. Just want to get back where I was (plus, it’ll be lighter on the budget as I won’t need new [bigger] clothes).

  • I have to quit smoking again. I was 6 months smoke free until a few weeks ago.
  • I might change mine before January.

Learn an instrument or a new language.
