3DS XL ghosting.

Hi folks.

I cracked the screen in my 3ds XL and replaced the screen via a third party LCD. Mostly seems fine except in Shovel Knight and something like SMB I get pretty distracting blur or ghosting in the back. I'm wondering if it's due to it being a replacement screen.

I recorded this:

As you can see it's pretty noticeable on the trees.

Does anyone have that degree of it?

Sorry for the terrible camera work.

Honestly I can’t even see what you are talking about because of the camera work.

  • Look at the trees when I move. There's a lot of added black, and loss of detail.
  • I see it in your video. Thought I don't know what's causing it, I know that some later model 3DSXLs were made using displays from a new manufacturer. If it happens on all games, I'd guess that it's a manufacturing defect.
  • It's probably because you're using a 3rd party screen. Dunno if it's the material used or the refresh rate on that screen, but that's probably how it is. (Someone here with better tech knowledge can probably explain this better, I'm not really qualified. lol)

Nothing you can really do about it, unless you try and replace it with an OEM screen.
  • I see it now. Sorry. My bet is a cheap replacement screen.
