  • If you are worried about the buyer screwing you over, be sure to document everything. Personally, I take videos of what I am selling before I sell for proof. Just be sure to give as much detail as possible.
  • Pics of everything you sell.

Always get tracking, without it you immediately lose any dispute and it's too easy for the seller to say they never got it.

Remember the fees, you'll get billed approx 10% from ebay/paypal at the end of each month so keep that set aside.
  • I sell on Ebay and it is good but it's great when you can sell here on NA or post on facebook. You don't have to really worry about problems. For Instance, I sold a Sega Dreamcast on Facebook. I clearly stated the Power Cord is not included. I meet up and the lady pays. I get home and i see a message asking "where is the power cord". Obviously, that's her fault and I told her it was clearly stated. If that would've been on Ebay then she would've probably filed a claim. Sometimes you as a seller on Ebay will still loose claims even if it's the buyers mistake. Anyway, good luck with Ebay.
  • use a quality camera under good light to take picture of your item so the buyer can see details. depending on the item take several pictures at different angles. look up your item and see what its generally going for and price it accordingly. i like to go slightly lower than my competitors give a detailed description of your item mention any defects wear or damage if any. when you go to list your item select the best category for your item.

clean and test the item to ensure its working and in good shape. one you listed your item keep an eye on it as long as your are getting page views every day that means your item has cause the attention of potential buyers if you are getting watchers thats even better. but if you get several watcher with in a few hours that might mean your item is priced too low. try to find that sweet spot with the price.

anather thing i always do is say its been tested (its a good idea to have video proof that it worked if that bothers you) and is working and it has full insurance in case it gets damaged in shipping. the insurance is a good thing to fall back on cause if the customer says it doesn't work even though you check it and confirmed it is working its likely the shipping damaged it even if the package isnt damaged.

    hope that helps.

Isn't it a little over the top though? Did this ever help you get out of a problematic situation before? I'm truly curious to know.

  • Make it clear you'll ship in a box (if you will). Make your combined shipping, return, and what countries you'll ship to policies crystal clear. IMO start run of the mill games that sell every day at 0.99 with no reserve and obscure/rare stuff with wishful thinking BINs. The majority of transactions go perfectly fine.

I had a buyer complain to me about something they claimed did not work, I made them send it back before a refund. I got it back and sure enough it worked. Being that I don't do much selling, it's no big deal.
  • List in acceptable condition, so wear can never be an issue, or use "good" condition but specify if something is cartridge only. Anything above "good" has to basically be mint, so list in worse condition than you think the item is, but let excellent photos show how good your item actually looks.

For how many horror stories there are, the vast majority of eBay transactions go fine as long as you're smart about how you list stuff and ship safely. I have never had a negative feedback that I couldn't get removed by explaining to eBay why the buyer was wrong or dumb. Just be thorough with your listing process.

This is the correct way to do it, let the pictures speak for themselves. Or be like a majority on there and list everything as like new and very good with stock photos and it arrives creased/torn/dirty.

I just received a ps2 game that stated it was never used and like new with stock photo. Case was scratched to hell, cracked on the side and the disc had fingerprints and gunk. Seller apologized for the misjudgement which is fine but its a waste of both our time and their money for shipping.

OP don't do that kind of stuff. Also a good rule I have is don't list anything you can't afford to lose as its really not a matter of "if" when selling online, its a matter of "when"
