Where can I buy GOOD game cube laser lens?

Hi guys, I need to fix over 50 game cube consoles and I've had no luck with the lasers ive ordered in aliexpress... 20 lasers between 2 different sellers and not even 1 working laser. SO if you guys know where to get working lasers please let me know, adding these damn game cubes to our dead dreamcast pile they are taking a lot of space...

greatly appreciated thanks!!!

  • It's strange that none of them are working. Have you tried adjusting the laser potentiometer on the disk drive? Turning it counter clockwise increases the laser strength. Maybe they all need to be calibrated.
  • Most replacement lasers have an ESD jumper that you must desolder before they will work. They are effectively disabled until you do. Because you didn’t mention this I figure you might be unaware.
  • Thanks for the reply, these arrived with that jumper unsoldered
  • ive never had any luck replacing lasers for anything. tried an xbox, nothing tried a a few bose stereos 3 times, nothing tried a few ps2 consoles still nothing. tried a dvd player, nothing. remove the solder bead set the pots corectly all on an anti static mat.

ive given up replacing lasers cause personally i dont think its the lasers that go bad. and heres why i think that. that dvd player/recorder i also tried re flowing the logic board. and that fixed it! i dont think its the laser that always fails i think the logic board plays a big rolled in "failed lasers"
  • Have you tried putting one of the lasers into a console that has a working laser?
