Store displays: are they as random in value as I fear ?

There have been a few store displays here, and a few popped up on local CL - and it got me thinking: there is a huge range of style / characters / size / age / etc.

Are there any rules of thumb that someone can offer as a way to get ballpark value without having to resort to message boards (no offense to the board).

EG: the image attached was posted locally, asking for $50. It has now been deleted, so I have no way of following up.

Random follow-up: what is the commonly acecpted words to use to search for comparables? standee. cardboard sign. display. cut out? floor display vs table top display?

  • For something older like that one, I would think $50 a great price. For something more recent with Gamestop logos, most displays have little value in my experience.
  • That would would go for 10x that, at least. Probably even closer to 1k than 500.
  • Lok definitely way more than $50, I gotta agree with Jone.
  • wow. maybe I'll pull out the ones I have (some in original packaging used to send to the Nintendo reps) and see what I got...

I had a double of a Super Mario Sunshine full size (about 6' tall) that was flat (did not have the pop-out pieces) that I donated to SGDQ 2016...

    thank you, everyone.
  • I agree with all the replies so far. The listing was probably deleted because the owner realized he was lowballing himself.
  • I agree with Jonebone as this display would bring in 750 to 1k

There was one back in December that sold new in box for under $400 on ebay. I know who grabbed it. Lucky score.

That was definitely a bargain, considering it was NIB!  Did the Killer Instinct one sell recently for quite a bit?

I've always considered the Donkey Kong Country standee (where Donkey Kong has depth to him and he moves the sign above his head back to back) the holy grail of standees!  Even tops the MTPO standee IMO! .
