Discussion Question: How much does a registration card go for or effect the value of a game?
in Price Check
I know this question is generally subjective because I know it certainly differs from game to game. However, if you are one to pay attention to these details, you know that almost all games shipped with registration cards. From my observation they tend to come in two forms-- those with a general "form" that was generic to the publisher or a specific card to a game.
So, my question is, for uncommon to rare titles, how much does that little card effect the CIB value? CIBs are obviously harder to come by than loose items but at least 9 out of 10 times, if you see a CIB item for sale, even in excellent shape with the other typical inserts, the registration card is missing.
If I recall, the Chrono Trigger card is an example of one that's hard to come by and goes for around $30-40. I'm not looking for a Chrono Trigger card but I am considering hunting down registration cards for some of the titles that I own that are missing them within the CIB set. Also, is there a gross difference between the added value with cardboard boxed games and plastic-cased games?
I mainly collect CIB items that came in CD cases or plastic shells (like Genesis titles.)
So, what is that little piece of paper worth when a game gets to be more rare as a CIB title?

And of course, a reg card paired with a bad condition cib isn't going to have the same noticeable price bump; if you're going for that level of completeness then you're going for higher end condition as well.
