N64 No video

Trying to figure this one out (please send me to the right area if this is answered):

-No Audio/Video

-Powers On, flashes once

I've tried:

-Swapping Power cords, Pin connectors, and jumper paks

-Cleaned Pin connector, plug and jumper pak area (alcohol/brasso)

The game is clean, so is this likely something further/deeper on the board?

Thanks in advance!

  • When you say "flashed" is that the screen or the power light goes out? What board model is it? I have had tons of N64's come to me for this issue. It's always the connectors, but this happened with an 04 model where the board burnt up. Is there any damage you can see on either side?

  • The power stays on and it's the screen with one flash. Model -04, and it looks pretty clean. I re-flowed the A/V connector pins and tested connectivity from there to the A/V wire output plugs as well. Attached is the board on the original post. Thank you much
  • I looked at the board on the bottom side and I see the trace looks weak in the same area mine burnt up at at the upper left side. Y-C-11. I was wrong...the model in which mine burnt up was an 06. THAT was what I was hoping for. This is still interesting though, because like many will tell you it's RARE for these to have this type of issue. Perhaps that area is sensitive to dirt / dust. I'm no loner pre-testing these before tear down so I can make sure that area is cleaned up before running power into the system.
