Dreamcast signed by Fred Durst

Just looking to see if anyone has found a price for these anywhere. I didn't see any sold ones on eBay and I know a couple years back somebody tried to get $1000 for his and it pretty much was laughed at even though it did generate some publicity.

I have one signed #68 which I honestly thought was just the guys name who owned this huge lot I bought in August but my wife saw it and said "Hey Fred Durst" and I was like "Oh yeah wonder if it's the same one LOL" without thinking twice but apparently he signed a hundred or so of these back in early 2000s.

Thanks in advance.

  • Probably not as much as a Gary Coleman signed Gamecube.
  • Personally, I would consider that to be something that makes the system worth less. Vandalized a perfectly good Dreamcast there.
  • Definitely worth less. A perfectly good Dreamcast vandalized by one of histories most dreadful artists. I feel dirty calling him an artist.
  • This was all a SegaNet tie-in thing, right? I remember seeing him signing them in the Dreamcast magazine.

I personally don't think his signature devalues it. Whether Durst's good or bad is subjective, you can't deny the cultural impact-- so there's history worth preserving, thus value to be had.

Buuuuut... How much probably depends on who's buying it though. It might be hard to find someone who unironically likes his music to justify a high price. A sega collector would probably want it, but for historic reasons more than anything, so they probably won't pay much for it either. Most people now hate Fred Durst/Limp Bizkit (I find the music a guilty pleasure. So much cringe for me. lol)

Also, may be difficult to prove authenticity if you do find someone.
  • I don't think I've ever read a thread title that sounds more 90's than this.
  • How much does a Dreamcast go for?

    1/2 of that.
  • "Think I give a damn about a grammy? Half of you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me. But Slim, what ifyou're in, wouldn't it be weird? Why, so you guy can line me here next to Britney Spears? Christina Agulera better switch me chairs, So I can sit next to Carlson Hailey and ***FRED DURST***, and argue over who she gave head to first..."

    ~Slim Shady

I think this thread is only the second time in my life I've heard of that guy's name. I could literally give two flying fucks about the signee...

Edit: okay, he's the lead singer of Limp Bisquit. My sentiment still stands...
  • Probably should be offering money for someone to take it.
  • The price of a Dreamcast minus the price of some dish soap
  • Did you find any history on it? May be worth something to a Dreamcast collector.

    Edit: my google-fu found this
    https://www.consolevariations.com/2017/02/24/the-sega-dreamcast-signed-by-fred-durst/
  • This is actually recognized as a console variation. I think it has some value to the right person.
  • Yeah, I know people are trying to be funny but it's certainly worth more than worthless.
  • I'll trade you $50 plus a Japanese dreamcast for this, not a joke offer either.
  • I'd give you $100 for it.
  • Ended up getting $259 for it from a guy in Austria on eBay. I included a new controller, keyboard and memory card. Cost me $20 to ship to Kentucky on that eBay global shipping thing. So I netted about $200 after fees and everything. Not too shabby....
  • Wasn't someone selling a Dreamcast Kiosk that was played by him? It was either him or some other random 90's celebrity lol
  • first one to complain leaves with a bloodstain
  • Upon first glance - "TR-woRsT" but as a fan of LB growing up, I would have been jazzed to get this. Nostalgia paints this group right in there with the Undertaker and Sega, both things that at one point were subjectively cooler than you.

Solid. I guess there still are Limp Bizkit fans around.
  • Ya subjective worthless to most but find the right guy and he'll overpay. Hell i'd pay something stupid like that for an offspring signed dreamcast haha

My guess would be a system variation collector.

$259 is cheap for a 1/100 limited edition system.
