Stubborn Super Famicom

So I have this Super Famicom and a few Sufami games to go with it. Those games have been tested on my SNES so I know they work, but they refuse to work on my Super Famicom. Except for Yoshi's Island which always works on the first try. But regular Sufami games as well as my Japanese Super Game Boy (all tested and working) just do not work for some reason...

Any idea what might be happening?

  • First thing I would do is open her up and clean the motherboard, especially the cartridge connector.

Already tried cleaning her up a bit but I'll try cleaning her up a bit more. The connector is already pretty clean by now

  • Ok,so any other ntsc game just shows a black screen or any graphic issues?

Do have have a everdrive, maybe load up the test rom.
  • Well I took the PCB out for a thorough cleaning, tried to pop in Romancing Saga while it was taken apart and I think the system died while doing this... Now it doesn't even turn on

And yeah, any game that wasn't Yoshi's Island showed a black screen
  • Make a dedicated yoshi's island plug n play game console?
  • He killed it, koopa.   But that would have been my suggestion as well.
  • I already played through Yoshi's Island not too long ago so I kinda wanted to be able to play other games

But yeah RIP odd Super Famicom 199X-2018

Sounds like the fuse blew and always make sure you discahrge the system before you take it apart.

As for a black screen a common issue outiside of the cartridge connector is a bad cpu,did you check for any cap leaks as it can cause bad traces.

Well the caps seem fine so it might've been something with the CPU indeed
