GameCube LodgeNet controller modified to work with a regular gamecube

It's basically been modified to work as a regular GC controller. Extra buttons do nothing.
Any idea of price?

  • Not sure on value, but that's awesome. I'm interested, just fyi. I used to have the n64 Lodgenet stuff--such a fun outdated throwback.

How did you come across this?  You didn't mod it, did you?
  • I have an N64 lodgenet controller that I want to specifically do this too. There is a horrible video of a guy cutting one up-- that's not what I want to do. I just need to know how to properly connect the pins from an N64 cable to the Lodgenet unit in the right order.

I'm not sure what this worth. I spoke with a former Lodgenet employee about these and he said that they are worth picking up if one could mod them, as the internals were outsourced to Hori. So, get an N64 one working, you basically have an Hori controller that's durable and shaped like the original controller (though it does fell slightly thiccer.)

Anyway, if the build quality on these is similar to the N64 one, and I'm sure it is, and the controls feel great, I can't see why this couldn't be worth 2-3x the value of a standard OEM controller. I mean, the GC controller was pretty solid to begin with, so that might be high. The N64 ones go for $25-50, unmodded and an Hori controller is what, $50-75. I have not clue what the N64 one might go for but if people caught wind of the awesomeness, I could see it reaching up to $100. I know that's not the price of a GC controller, but consider it's harder to get a good controller for the N64, I'd imagine that price tag is probably the highest possible price for this.

I did- one of the first mod projects I ever did. Sadly, due to the difference in pins out, it uses regular GC guts (which don't naturally fit inside lol). Lots of trial and error and a couple replaced capacitors and this was the result. Kinda wished I used a black cord lol.

I would say this probably kills the value, if you've completely altered the internals of the controller... I mean if this is a regular GameCube controller stuffed into a LodgeNet shell, then the only unique thing you are buying here is the shell itself... little more than a case mod. I think that will put off some potential buyers right there.

I agree it would have been much cooler to have the original guts. However I wanted a cool unique controller for playing Smash Bros.

Normally I’d agree with this sort of statement but I’m not so sure on this one.

In this case he has something that will appeal to a different buyer.

Is the value of a cool working GameCube controller to a gamer worth more than a non functional controller sold to a collector?

    Two different buyers.
