or is that just the "dual shock" version ?

Neither version REQUIRES it. Only the dual shock exclusive mode on the dual shock edition does. The whole game is still playable though, otherwise.

    Licensing I'm sure.

The original also plays like crap, IMO, and so does the sequel if you don't have the analog sticks.

    Complete is irrelevant, though.

Getting a "playable" copy is the only price-per-game metric that should matter with these

Passable list of games, though, with inclusions like Super Puzzle Fighter.

Surprised they didn't find a way to squeeze in Alundra or Xenogears, but not surprised they skipped Gran Turismo, since the first game is really rough and the second game is only marginally playable without the analog sticks.

I tried changing the drop down to loose on each one and the calculator actually went up!!!! It was madness!! I gave up and delivered this data and got shit on. haha ;-)

Ha!  Not intending to sound like I'm shitting on you.   Sorry that it came across that way.

I don't keep up with the online value calculators enough to know the quirks, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was hard to quickly pull a decent valuation.

True, other than the playability of the game being mediocre, I wouldn't be surprised if the Gran Turismo series might have the most complicated licensing of any set of games ever made.

Yeah i think unfortunately Sony probably had to deal with a lot of logistics issues like these, as well as licensing. Likely why no Crash or Spyro i would guess.

With all things considered, it a solid list. Just not enough for a purchase from me considering my situation, so i will likely pass my preorder at cost. Unless they are readily available and i will just cancel it .

Likely just a bug or something, or user error   Jp. It is much closer to $200.

Jeez, I'm jealous.  That's an amazing list for me, personally.  I think the list that they've come up with for the US is pretty solid.  People on reddit mentioned "what about crash/spyro/SOTN" also, and I was pretty sure that the reason why those games weren't on it was because, I think, they are already available for some form of DLC and Crash and Spyro have recently had remasters, correct?   There's no point in having a game compete with itself on another platform of that other version is actively being marketed.  The only "miss" for me is that I loved the Twisted Metal games but I felt TM2 was the best in the series.  I'm glad they have Tekken 3, though.  I loved all three on the PS1 but they definitely got progressively better with time.

  • I don't think I'll be getting one of these but I never got to play the original Twisted Metal. Loved 2, 3, and Black. I bought 2 or 3 copies from my local GameStop back in high school and none of them worked. Oh well. So, yeah, the original on there is cool to me solely for the fact that I have yet to play it.

I also feel like Cool Boarders 2 was the best one so solid choice on that.

Crash was their mascot for so long, I would have thought they owned that one outright.

  • The list makes a whole lot of sense in the context of what they could do without analog controllers.

Feels like an attempt at "best of the early years", even if some of the omissions are glaring (looking at you, Gran Turismo).

GT was a head-scratcher for me as well.  My only guess is that car licensing might have been an issue.  Are there DLC versions of this game on PSN?  If so, I could be off in my assumptions.
  • The list confirms that this will be a hard pass for me.

Spending $100 to cherry pick the PSN classics section for my favorites seems like a much better use of money.

I thought so too, but i believe Activision owns Crash now

I definitely like the JP list a bit better. And yeah i can understand not wanting to compete with the remasters, but it is likely because of licensing issues. Sony probbaly didn't want to pay for the licenses. And a lot of these games are available in other avenues, which is why some people are going to choose to cherry pick the games on PSN

At this point the one thing that makes it worth it is Persona, if that is your thing. Because it is pricey and not available elsewhere. It just is no Niche i feel like that crowd is pretty small, but i could be wrong. And i love Atlus for the record.

I was totally goofing. No worries my friend

  • Games list is alright, but im gonna agree that the JP games are better. It does make sense though why they got those games and not us.
  • Everybody talking about crash and how it's probably because of the remakes, what about Crash Team Racing? I dont even care about the other crash games

Also, who cares about the list? Were going to hack it anyway I'm sure

Because we don't know how hackable it will be or what options that will give us. So for now at least, it is better to discuss what we know about the machine, rather than the potential capabilities. If it can be hacked and games can be added at will, or subbed out, then yes it doesn't matter.

As for CTR, that game is amazing and would have been a great multiplayer game replay value for sure.

  • I preordered mine and very disappointed with the list. I guess that just goes to show how much of a Nintendo fanboy I am
  • Game list is underwhelming for me, I was hoping for more Square RPG's and also SOTN. Silent Hill would've been nice too. I wouldn't say the game list is bad, just wasn't what I was hoping for.

Now that I think about it, licensing makes sense. Mostly due to the types of vehicles alone.

    So wack!

  • Not surprised my favs aren't there, but I am a bit disappointed that they went and put in a bunch of stuff that already has been released several times.. but I guess it makes sense they would go for the low hanging fruit and of course most popular and it's mostly been done before
