Official Ohio State game jersey - EDIT SOLD !!

We got this jersey traded in some time ago. It was $20 I believe. It was sitting in the store for months with a $50 price tag and today I took it over to my frame shope to see if the frame was worth keeping for game artwork.

No paperwork of any kind. Like I said we assumed it was junk and paid $20 for it.

Ohio Star did win the game. However, I’m not sure if Cardale Jones played a snap in that game.

  • Cardale Jones was a stud the games he did play with Ohio state. Maybe he will eventually pan out in the NFL never know.
  • UPDATE

Sent detailed pictures to Heritage and they think it is the real deal as well.

    Hello,

I would estimate the value of your jersey to be in the $1500-2000 range.

    Thank you!

  • $1500-2000 is pretty....ambitious, especially if it sat in your store for months for $50.

With the Christmas season, throw it on ebay in an auction and let it fly! Should fetch at least $500 I'd think.

I kinda agree considering the "butt fumble" jersey only went for $820 lol

    * oh shit just actually read this article they said it couldve gone for millions lol.

They won a championship with Cardale Jones so Im sure some Ohio State fan would love to have it

Heritage is a beast of an auction company. Their name and reach can add a lot of extra value to any item.

  • Isnt his store in Ohio? It didn't sell for $50 in a store in Ohio but that guy thinks it's going to go for 1500 to 2000?

    I say auction it.
  • The only other thing I can think of is with the way it was mounted, you couldn't tell it was a bowl jersey, just looked like any other random knockoff one.

I would still just auction it. If you would have been happy with $50, be happy with the several hundo you'll get on ebay. Don't be like those pawn stars people.

  • Neat piece for an OSU fan. If it were mine, I'd sell it to a local card/collectible shop near Columbus or EBay it, if you're comfortable shipping it.

Good point.   He's only a 2 hour drive from Columbus; might be worth making the trip to a card shop down that way?

    Excellent.

This is why I like your threads; you ask about pricing on something, and then actually sell the thing!

A few interested parties but no offers except this one so far. Guy sounds like a dealer. What are your thoughts?

Okay. Heritage Auction is not very reliable. They’ll tell you what you want to hear for your business. I’ve been dealing in OSU game used for about 8 years now and would offer $700 for this jersey today. Maybe in 2015-2016, it would brought 1200-1500, but not now. That’s been my experience because I’ve sold a few of his jerseys and dealt with him one on one.
  • Send him a link to your ebay auction, And tell him to $700 on it and see if he gets it.

"Don't trust this world famous auction house, trust me a guy on the Internet"

Although, the auction house could just be saying that so you list it with them.

Maybe ask the guy to link you to the sales if you can.

Ps. For what it's worth, I have a coworker who is a huge Ohio State fan. He told me it would only be worth a couple hundred bucks maybe to a hard-core Ohio State fan

Sounds pretty spot on actually.   He offers you 700 and can probably turn it around for a grand or so to the right person.

It's game issued at least.   If it showed game wear you might be looking at more.   Other than some diehard OSU fans nobody gives a shit about this guy anymore.

Just got this message from another buyer. I’m going to end up in the game used sports memorabilia market if I’m not careful.

would you have any interest in trading this jersey for a 1994 atlanta Braves David Justice signed used home jersey and matching pants plus cash?
  • UPDATE

    SOLD / TRADE

Guy drove in from out of town to see it.

    Deal was as follows.

1994 game worn Atlanta Braves Dave Justice jersey and pants + game worn Dave Justice Cleveland Indians baseball bat + $1100 cash.
  • Yikes, where exactly did Justice wear the bat? Only one place I can think of.

    Halle Berry?
  • Nice, i woupd think that david justice stuff plus 1100 cash would bay WAY more than the jersey value. Good for you!
  • That's insanely awesome!
  • Somewhere out there, some poor bastard had his ex sell his favourite man cave item for 20 bucks lol.

Congrats Adam, that's awesome and it sounds like you managed the sale well as per usual. Nicely done.

anybody have a guess what the justice stuff is worth?   As a total layman to this I would have guessed the justice material to be worth more than the Jones jersey, and that’s before the 1100.   Seems like a great trade
  • You basically robbed the guy. Good on you. I may be interested in the Justice Jersey. He was my favorite player for a stretch. Is it white or gray? Also, I believe Gameboyrickys dad might have been on that a braves squad.
  • It is a white jerseyOriginally posted by: thenickross

The David Justice jersey is white. It is from the 1994 season when they had the strike. Has the MLB 125th anniversary patch on it.

ill post some pictures when I get back to the store.

As for the value of the Ohio state jersey it is hard to say but you would think that his Fiesta Bowl jersey would be worth more than his gloves and shoes.

A lot with two set of his gloves sold for $896

A pair of his shoes sold for $717

    Thanks for the props guys.

This isn’t an area that I’m 100% comfortable with so it feels good to hear that others think I got the better end of this deal.

I’m honestly not sure what the Justice material is worth. He asked for 800 credit on the jersey and 100 credit on each of the two bats but was unable to find one of the bats. I had previously placed a value of 2000 on the jersey and 2000 - 900 = 1100

in my limited research Ohio state football game material from the past few years does very well.
