How far are you?

How far are you from considering your collection as "complete"

Today I added some stuff and did a count, and I'm 32 games away from 500. I figure I have about 250 more carts after 500, and still like 700 manuals & boxes.

Dunno, made me realize I'm not TOO far off from having my idea of a complete cart collection.

  • I neeed about 130 carts yet, give or take a few. Boxes and manuals are a side project. If i come across them i'll pick them up, if not, then i just chase carts.
  • I collect mostly CIB and some set just loose. My idea of a collection is very limited to what I remember playing growing up and randoms I want to play. After doing a trade with braveheart I got very close to having everything I was looking for and became bored in about 1 hour. So I started a new mission. Get all the black boxes in CAN haha. Kinda funny, cause I gave Erik black boxes in our trade... Oh well, now I'm far from finishing.

I'm sure I'll never go after everything single title, or even 500!
  • I am done NES wise. I gave up hope long ago of having a SE box and that was all I needed for the longest time. I have sold a few of my higher end games off but as NES goes I am pretty much done. I am still done some Hong Kong, Asian, and a few other small little subset type stuff, but the bulk of my NES set is done.

  • far as nes im done i need a myriad cib and the box and manual to se but unless i fing them at a yard sale im done. got all the n64 games cib and am getting close on the snes i would like to have them all cib but super copa and mbr/sr then on th gamecube want a complete collection.
  • im done image

sealed SNES is something I will continue to do to keep me busy.

n64 will be next for me.
  • Down to my last 23 for a Licensed set, anything more than that to me would just be a bonus. I'll continue slowly picking up unlicensed carts, but I don't know if I'll ever go as far as picking up a Myriad. I'd love to finish up 99% this year.

What does this mean for you. CIB, loose?? You're in BC too so it would be cool to know how big your collection is. Then I can break in to your house and steal them. JK.
  • I don't think I would ever be able to afford a CIB NES collection right now I have about 300 +/- cart only Nes games so about 450ish more games to go and unless I win the lottery a complete cart only collection for me would be everything but the top 5 or so real toughies SE,NWC gold, NWC grey, BBB,and others.
  • Not close yet, I mean if I were going loose only, and sold off all my SNES and NES IB's, I'd easily get a cart-only complete collection seeing that SE is already out of the way. But I'm going CIB, so I mean I've got about 450 different titles for NES including loose only.
  • im 100 away. but then again I collect for all systems and only want 200 CIB NES games.
  • My NES collection is half full. I'd be happy with a loose collection, but I'm going forward with a cart/manual/box collection. To hell with maps and other inserts, unless they happen to be included.

edit: licenced and unlicenced, north american releases with a few exceptions for stuff I like (Mother, the Smurfs, Ghostbusters 2 etc)... basically just stuff that catches my eye. I collect pretty laid-back-ily
  • i have about 450 games, then i stoped and thought, instead of buying the rest of the nes library, why not jus buy the rare ones, 450 is alot , soim jus gona buy nwc witch i got, SE and myriad, and maybe a few more
  • I'm about 150 carts away from the NTSC set, and roughly 540 boxes and 450 manuals from completing them. I've been thinking of where to go next from here:

    1. Do I post a wanted thread to finish out the cart set? Again, I'm 150 carts away, and about the only big ones I'm missing yet are Myriad and the three Panesians (I already have SE, Flintstones 2, and Caltron, among the rarest of the rare).

    2. Do I save up some money and start posting bounties for the really rare stuff, just so I can get the ridiculously rare stuff out of the way? For example...do I save up the money and then post "Paying $7K for SE CIB" or some crap like that? It'd be a bit slow and painful, especially considering that it'd take me nearly a year to save up that kind of money...

    3. Do I post a wanted thread for common CIBs, to hopefully fill in the extreme gap between the number of carts I have vs. the number of boxes and manuals? It could take a while, but mainly due to the volume...I'd literally be buying lots of 30+ CIBs at a crack to make this work...

    4. Do I post a wanted thread for scarcer CIBs, in hopes of knocking them out before they become prohibitively expensive (which they may or may not do...)? I have a few already, and a few more en route from Canada (thanks to aaronshea80 image ), but there are several more out there than what I have...

    5. Do I take leave from the NTSC set and focus on the import side of my collecting? I don't have too many foreign releases...counting pirates, I think I have maybe 40 total and roughly 60-80% are boxed.

    6. Perhaps you have a better idea of what I should do...? I'm really at a loss here for what to do next...
  • I'm 11 games away of a complete Pal-B collection, at least all cart. I'm not sure how many boxes and manuals I still need. Will focus on that when I've finally found those last games which still elude me.
  • I just want to finish my Black Box set. Anything after that is just gravy.
  • I am about 80 or away for a licensed set (loose). Already have all the "rares" Just need a few commons and uncommons. I am also need a few of the $20-$30 uncommons as well. Not that bad in my opinion.

well if it were me I would start setting aside a SE/myriad war chest.   The rest don't really matter even if they go up its the difference between $200 and $300 not $5k and $10k.   You don't want to get completely bored either though so maybe set aside 50-75% of your budget for the war chest and use the 25-50% monthly to add a few titles here and then to keep you interested.

Basically when a CIB se or myriad becomes available you have to pounce, there's no waiting for next time.   So you need to have some money set aside for that day, IMO

  • I am too far...Some games show once in a lifetime.

  • I'm far from my all-time goal. Very far. My ultimate goal is to have every North American released Nintendo game, ever, CIB. Like for every system.

As long as Nintendo keeps making games, I'll be very, very far away.

    Keeps me busy, though.
  • I'm sitting at 620/767 (+4 repros) which reflects my ultimate goal for a cart only collection.

That leaves me with 147 carts to go. Not too shabby.

I dont plan to ever pick up SE, the panesians, Myriad, or Cheetahmen 2. Although, I will probably pick up a couple more repros here and there. I still have a lot of big name games to go (Little Samson, Flintstones 2, etc), but I think I will get there eventually. I'm not really in any rush at the moment.

Recently I've been thinking that's what I want too.
  • Im far away but it doesnt bother me. Im a sealed and CIB collector. I might have 200 CIB and about 60 sealed games. I do have about 30 carts that are only loose. Only about 20 total CIB SNES and N64.
  • I'm now 22 games short of my completed collection including repros and licensed games. I've got one coming in the mail though, so I should be to 21 shortly. I've definitely been cutting back on my collecting though, but all the games I need are fairly common.
  • I have a long way to go collecting sealed games and haven't been to active in a while.
  • I think within the last 6 months I topped 200 different carts (about half of that having at least a box or manual, maybe 1/4 CIB).  I pretty much just stick to what I can find wherever I can find it, or what I can trade for, I've never bought games on ebay, and don't really intend to in the forseeable future.  I like to set small goals at a time and work from there.  For now, I'm working on CIBing several sets of games, especially the Castlevania set (down to needing just the box for part 1), Double Dragon set (which is actually done pending the arrival of one more box), and shot in the dark, boxes for Ninja Gaiden II and III (and the manual for III).

That should keep me busy for a while at least.

  • I just wanted to say that my sealed saturn collection is now complete.

Took about 2 years to find Mystaria (only 2 popped up!), always amazing how crappy titles are harder to find.

  • i'm redoing my collection at the moment

selling everything that is not complete or not beloning in my collection (dreamcast/sms etc)
