Custom Built Entertainment/Shelving Setups
Hey NA,
Figured i would share my newest project. Since i am disabled i have some specific requirements for gaming since i cannot sit at all. I have to lay in bed on my stomach. So i needed a TV stand that was low enough to not hurt my neck. But then if the TV stand is low, that means the systems are also low and i have to bend over constantly to turn them off/on and switch games.
So said eff it and decided to build something of my own. I purchased a small little end table that was the perfect dimensions and could hold the weight of the PVM. Surprisingly not easy as everything is cheaply made these days with 50 lb weight limites. I was going to make it myself but luckily found this one that worked perfect.
Then i built some custom shelving units out of 1x12's. They look real nice, are sturdy, and keep most of the systems within reach for me. Some of the lesser played systems at the bottom. Screwed it to the wall for extra stability.
It is way too cold for me to paint them right now in NH, so i am going to wait until the spring and then spray them or lacquer them outside.
Just wanted to share them with you guys and see what you guys have made for your setups.

I agree with the dark stain sentiment.
I have some shelves in my room that are light wood, so I think I will go with a dark grey/black stain.
Awesome set up, though. Especially since you've built it to your needs.
I screwed up and only left like 2 inches between the wall though, made wiring a bitch. But they are all hidden now and it's nice the shelves don't stick out too far since the room is already packed as it is.
Looks like a nice clean layout, and a cool style/look... though it screams "no kids allowed" (my 2 year old would try and climb it the moment he saw it!)
My preference would be to not go any darker than some medium tone.

Yeah that is my plan. Thanks! As for the kids you are totally right, but luckily we have no kids to deal with lol Not even family or friends.
But you are right this would be an accident waiting to happen
Also love the look of the floating shelves, I will post mine in here later although everyone has seen it.
Nice shelves. Here is my mess.
How can I get an SNES cart shell that looks like your translucent red one?
