  • looks so good in the 1st photo i'd believe it's a repro lol
  • Jesus! It survived 500 million years pristine and untouched, only for USPS to destroy it in the space of one delivery attempt! I don't know what that says about humanity, but I think it means we suck, lol!
  • Lmao it cracked exactly down the middle to ruin it to the fullest extent

  • Why ship a $30k fossil? At that price I'd be driving there with a uhaul and making sure its secure as possible. if you want something done right do it yourself.
  • Being from the family of the Utah Jazz ownership you'd think this guy could have flown a helicopter to go and get it.

    My thoughts exactly.

  • Wait did they really ship through USPS? That just seems negligent, are they even equipped to handle such a job? Surely there are better suited services.
  • Im suprised the thing was never marked as fragile.
  • Yeah put some of that fragile tape on the box. Boom bam fixed. Odds are they put the value at like $50 to avoid customs fees AMIRITE!? *cries in Canadian*

I'm surprised they did such a shitty job of packing it, if it was worth $30k.

3/4" of stiff foam against a wooden crate is NOT how you pack something brittle.

You need a lot more cushion and shock absorption.

The packing job is bad, no matter who they shipped it with.

I think you underestimate how much vibration that helicopter would transmit into this kind of crappy packing job, probably causing it to crack anyway

My thought exactly. This isn't from it being whacked or thrown (lol), it's from vibrations not being absorbed.

  • Im going with a privately contracted shipping service like Uship

It COULD be from a single drop.

But either way, it failed exactly along the lines you'd expect, structurally, and it's a material that is going to have no tolerance at all to impact OR vibration.

The shit packing job just blows my mind.  The person that packed this was a moron.

Unless the shipping service repacked it correctly, it wasn't going to matter who they used.

    LOL

The thought of archaeologists using UPS is really  funny to me

  • I wouldn't even know what to say or think if I paid this much and had it arrive like this.... I would feel like the air had been knocked out of me... Wow.
  • The guy definitely shipped it media mail because it saved $2.25.
