  • My secret santa was kemp175 and he went above and beyond. When I opened the box, I had a ton of individually wrapped gifts. I saved them for Christmas Day and, when I opened them, I was excited to see that he helped me knock off a few games I needed towards my complete Long Box set (including DiscWorld) which is a little harder to find). He also gave me a CIB N64 game I needed, and three Gameboy Advance games (2 sealed). Aside from all that, he also sent a PS2 game, a manual I needed, an NA patch and some figures I will be putting up on my selves. Thanks again Dane!

  • Some great stuff shown off so far! I still need to get my pic up; Vec hooked me up with some Yakuza goodies and Japanese candy.

Extra thanks to those of you that pulled international duty this year.

He got me the hardcover edition of The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia, which I was really hyped for since I now have the complete trilogy of Zelda books, from Hyrule Historia, Arts & Artifacts, all the way up to the Encyclopedia now. Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate it!

My only complaint was that I immediately guessed what it was just based on the shape of the box, but that just made me more hyped to open it up on Christmas Eve

Your welcome!! Merry Christmas!! Glad I didn’t buy you all 3 lol
  • My phones weird with pictures but my secret Santa was TheNoid. He blessed me with a CIB DK Jungle beat! As well as sno cross for ps1 sealed. Very siked! Thanks bro!

I am glad you liked your gift bundle! I tried keeping my purchases to local stores this year to support the small stores. Fortunately they had some games from your list. Threw in the cozy as a random goodie, but hopefully it brought back some cool times at Blockbuster lol.

Shout out to SNESNESCUBE64 for making the 3D printed items! Thanks!

The spaces may have been part of IE. I normally post in Chrome but stayed logged into the SS account with IE.

Lmao not at all truly a lucky guess!!!!

  • Thanks to my SS!  Unless I 100% missed it, I'm not sure who this is even though they left clues as to who they were, but feel free to call me out on not knowing!

Anyway, here's my gifts!  These games are all on my rather long backlog of desires, so I'm more than happy with these gifts!

But what's that one wrapped gift!

Nice! (And, no, I do not have a copy of this!).  A bit of context.  A little while ago, I posted that I'd like to start collecting gaming items that kids had made or marked up.  This isn't just any copy of the Final Fantasy III official strategy guide, but a well-loved one that has plenty of highlighting and notes.  This will go nicely with my collection.  Here are a few images of some of the notes inside.

So, thank's Secret Santa, whoever you were!  I love these gifts and I hope you had a happy Christmas and a wonderful coming new year!

Ha, well, you're welcome and it was definitely me.

I  also had no clue that guessing who the SS organizer was, was part of the game. (I'll remember that next year!) So, thanks CaptainMorganDrinker!  Also, I actually thought it was you, Murray, who was SS since you seemed so pumped and excited about this year.

Sorry for the double-post but I wanted to give my SS their moment!  Merry Christmas everyone.
  • My SS was the man himself, capt! I got a tonne of games and honestly capt went above and beyond as always. Got some Metroid goodies, as well as some Atari stuff and a few NES games I asked for. Sadly Eliminator Boat Duel got damaged in transit but other than that it was an amazing gift. I'll snap a pic of the Atari games later and I'll also show my Metroid stuff in my Metroid shrine

By the way did my package arrive capt? It's sadly way less than what you've sent me and I would've definitely added more stuff if I knew but I hope you still enjoyed it
  • My Secret Santa was GameBoyRicky and he sure went above and beyond - much appreciated!!!

I got a new PS4 Lego Jurassic Park Game, Pac-Man Playing Cards, a very nice Zelda note book, a Zelda bead type figure, an NA patch and stickers, and a wicked cool custom Xmas ornament!!!! Thank you again, hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a great new year!

  • My phones camera doesn't work so I can't take a picture, but my SS got me the box to a game I already had CI for, and inside of the box were a bunch of yugioh GBA games and Pokémon Red rescue team, one I actually didn't have yet. Still not sure who it was, but thanks a bunch!

Glad you enjoyed the gifts & hope you have tons of fun playing them.

I was your secret santa this year! I won't spoil the surprise for you, but I will say your list was a bit vague so I had to do a bit of research to determine what some good gifts would be. I like to think I did a good job, but I'll let you be the judge of that   Merry Christmas man, and feel free to PM or inform me however you want when you open your gifts, wanna see your reaction to them

Well thank you for sending it, and I will be sure to say it again when I open it! Sorry if it was too vague, I don't want to make it too specific but I am just happy participating, so I'm sure anything will be good.

  • Not sure exactly who my Santa was, but they had sent a wonderful note, and 6 Dreamcast games! All of them I didnt have actually, so it was really awesome. I must say whoever you are did a great job, thank you so much, and happy holidays!

  • I'm really happy with my gifts!  All games I really wanted!  Thank you so much Prime2099!

It generally isn't; I was in a festive mood this year, so I made a separate thread to field guesses.

He hooked me up with not only a brand new SNES multitap, but he sent over all sorts of nice food and tea with a tea set, a Mario Kart mug, a ton of Famicom bootlegs (which I LOVE - I find them super fascinating), along with two Famiclones (and to share one with a buddy!)!! He also sent a really nice note explaining some of the games, and a preview of his book that he's working on (which I'm definitely down to pick up a copy when it's out)! This all came from two huge boxes to the USA from Taiwan, so it means a lot that he sent out so much stuff. Thank you so much Dave, I truly appreciate it.

WOW! That is an amazing bundle of goodies there, well done Dave and congrats SnoopKatt!

Never let it be forgotton how truly generous that man is, I am very lucky to count him as a close friend and he has been similarly generous with me time and time again! Gotta find some way to repay him though, it's getting embarassing now, lol!

I really enjoyed the Pokemon card and loved the Pikachu ornament. The wife and I actually got our first tree this year, and we made sure the Pikachu ornament was the first ornament on the new tree!   It was hard to wait until Christmas to open the two that were mark as "Open on Christmas", and I ended up waiting until right before Christmas to open those. I was so excited to see Rayman 3D and Bit.Trip Saga! I have been looking forward to playing both games for quite a while now but have had a lot of difficulty finding both in my area. I am sure I will be giving my 3DS some attention soon since I can't wait to play a new Rayman game and I can finally try out the Bit.Trip series after being intrigued by it for years now lol. Thank you so much for being an awesome Santa!

You are welcome!  You were definitely one of the easier ones I had to do.

  • Awesome stuff!
  • I received the amazing gift from Splain:

    image

    Thank you my friend!!!

I was running behind pretty badly when the deadline came up for sending in my Christmas wish list, so I just stated that I'd be interested in any CIB Sega MD (J) games that I didn't have, or even just some local music / art even if non videogame related. I then opened the physical package up, as mentioned in an earlier thread, once it had arrived, but didn't look at the contents and tucked it back into the box, before placing it under the Christmas tree.

In Taiwan we had to work on Christmas Day, and to make matters worse, everyone had to work six days the week prior, so I was feeling tired, partially sick, and just in low spirits by the time Christmas even rolled around. I decided to open this gift over my lunch break though, and it bought a smile to my face, and lifted my spirits for the rest of the day.   I actually have a bootleg box (but no manual or cart) for ToeJam & Earl, so I am very, very interested in trying that game out. I think I'll be able to put some time into it over the four-day break this weekend. While NBA Jam is certainly more of a shelf title in my opinion (someone who actually played sports games back in the day that can correct me?), I absolutely love the look of this one, since it just looks odd to me, clearly originating in the west and then being brought to Japan later. I'll give it a go as well, from what I've seen online it's more arcade-based, if the gameplay is simple enough maybe I can figure it out

Then there were the two notes, a candy cane, and finally the most thoughtful gift of all - some bandages. Sometimes I will cut myself or get crevices on my hands, and these will definitely help to heal them up faster. I thought this was a really, really, kind and thoughtful gesture, and it means a lot.

Finally, I just want to say one last thing: Splain, thank you so much for being willing to send a gift internationally. From what my parents always tell me, I know how horrible it is by now to mail packages to Taiwan (or elsewhere abroad too, I guess) from the USA, just by the rediculous expense involved. So I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    Dave

P.S. These were the only gaming-related items I received this year for Christmas.
  • I'm a little late to the party here, but I still wanted to share!

Thank you Khromak for the Turok starter kit! I've never played any Turok games, but it looks like I have the full set minus T3. I'll have to get on this next year.

    Merry Christmas all!
  • I had ScaryD who is currently deployed overseas. Pretty sweet Secret Santa gift for being on the other side of the planet!

You'd be surprised at how excited I get for a new Dragon Warrior. And I love pogs. Solid gift.

I am beyond amazed by their generocity. Knocked a ton of games off my list, and those two NP issues were the only ones I was missing from 1996-2001, the Bomberman issue actually being from my birth month and year! My favorite part by far is the little red bag. It's a really nice drawstring bag, you open it up, and nestled inside is a piece of tissue wrapping...a lump of coal. HAHA! Brilliant.

Thanks to whoever is my secret santa!

That was me! I was in a hurry and forgot to include a note... or grab you an NA hat while I was going through boxes at the warehouse. The NP issues I randomly had in a stack of doubles I got for the magazine holders they were with. They were all the exact issues you have, except the two you were missing in that run. Glad you liked everything. Happy birthday, baby Jesus!
