Once you're done?

The 'how far are you' thread made me curious as to what people are planning to do next in terms of collecting once their nes sets are done.

  • I doubt I will ever get to the point where i have the complete, so I assume once i finish im done, but who knows.
  • Just stop collecting, or find something else that grabs my attention more. I've already stopped once, so I'll probably do it again. I started around '98 or so, and pretty much stopped around 2001. But the bug bit me again around 2007. The venom will probably wear off again at some point image
  • No option for sell?

That's where I'm at, I'm pretty much done collecting and I'll be scaling back to CIBs that I like and CIBs that I would have an interest in playing.
  • I voted SNES and I will. But I'll also move onto something else: Turtle figures. Already started actually. All on there orginal cardbacking sealed image
  • I figure if I ever finish a cart only collection, I will pull an Angelina Jolie and begin collecting people.
  • If/when I finish my CIB NTSC set, I plan on finishing my PAL set. After that...who knows? I may just collect RPGs for the other systems...that's what I was doing when I started collecting video games in the beginning (way back in '02)...
  • im almost done with my cib set and im not in any rush to actually complete it. i have to go through everything to figure out what i need and then i will finish up. i dont plan on getting SE or myriad (i had an se cart and manual but sold both of those). as such, i voted for the man love!
  • I don't really have ANY kind of goal for my collection.. so I'll never technically be done. I guess If I'm ever happy with the quantity of games I have.. I'll move on to upgrading upgrades and then upgrading those and so forth.
  • I don't think I'll ever be done.
  • this thread should be relabeled "how OCD are we all?"
  • I chose SNES for the poll question, but to be honest there's also a good chance I will just stop collecting as well. At some point I know I will be completely done collecting, because I do intend to play pretty much every game I have.
  • I will keep collecting NES from all around the world... probably never finish that, also buying NES accessories, etc.... But lately I have been focusing on Sega Game Gear which is my only other video game childhood love. Never liked gameboy and the crappy green screen. But I've always been a collector of Game Gear just decided in the last few months to break it all out of storage and start working on it again. The nice thing with Game Gear is that there are basically only 3 regions and pirates (which I don't care about). The Japan, USA, and Europe regions all work on all game gears which is awesome. So I am collecting all 3 sets. image I've got hundreds of doubles too if anyone is interested in trading or buying.
  • In june it will be a year that i have been collecting NES.I starting collecting carts than moved to CIB's and now i am upgrading to sealed.I have only been collecting sealed games know for about 7 weeks and i already have close to 170.I know i will never be done collecting NES,but i am OK with that.
  • hmm well, i'll prolly never be done. I mean for me collecting the best games for each system its usually around 200 games per system less for systems like the Gamecube and N64. But after I have all my games CIB then im going to play and complete them all. You could always go farther if you wanted to. For example I could replace rough copies with nicer ones. Or try to get 200 NES games down to 150 NES games after playing them and deciding I don't like certain ones, or may increase the count.

Then you have the option of collecting Nintendo Powers, EGMs, Strategy Guides. Then promo items like standees to your favorite games. So it will be a looooong while before im done collecting.
  • After I (almost) finished NES, I moved on to Gameboy. Now that I'm nearing the end of that, I may work on SNES.
  • After just passing the 30 protos mark, I think that is the most enticing for me. I only ever wanted a licensed set, and I'm almost at the end there. Protos are the coolest thing going after my licensed set.
  • im going on to wii which as fast as there coming out there may be enough of them to take a lifetime to acquire
  • i will likley be collecting "new" games from other countries once i finish up sealed stuff from the US. I already have a few from outside the US, Blister packs/sticker sealed, brazilian shit... but i plan on tackling that full force by traveling and finding stores with new old stock stuff. I don't think i will ever be done, but ya know this shit is out there and will always need a hoe image
  • I'm surprised no one has voted cib yet.
  • I don't think I'll be 'done' so much as phasing over to collecting SNES games more then NES games. There's so much NES stuff out there, and so many variants and options to collect, that you can probably never really 'complete' a NES collection so much as abandon it.
  • I've already moved onto SNES partially, I collect both it and NES at the same time, and am constantly upgrading any looses to CIB's...so I guess once I finish either set CIB (it may be that I finish SNES before NES, they are both close in the amount), then I am going to move onto N64, and then probably VB or something like that. Maybe just upgrade to sealed even? It's so far away though, so who knows.
  • i am done, but I will always pick up sealed stuff here and there.
  • I voted move out of games altogether and collect something else because it seemed the closest to what I already do. I collect NES games and Christmas lights, truth be told if I could find Christmas lights everywhere at any time of the year, I probably wouldn't have as much of an NES collection as I do right now.

On the other hand, there's about a 99.9% I'll never be "done" with either collection.

Please tell me you don't actually collect these.

  • After I'll finish my cart only licensed set, I'll probably upgrade some of the game that need it, and then move to N64.
  • after I finish my CIB set, I may just be done collecting all together. I was thinking of moving to famicom, but seems expensive to me, and shipping and what not will not be fun. I'm not a big fan of SNES or N64 boxes, so I won't start those. Handhelds don't interest me, so I might just try and see if I can get another Cart only set of NES. Thats my next goal once I finish I think. I don't want Myriad or SE, ever, but might for the cart only set. we'll see.

Maybe I'll get into something else. Possibly arcade machines or something totally different.

  • I have all snes games, rounding 55% on the N64 collection, nes also getting close 4 left

    Yeah dude, totally kidding.

  • ^^ they have to make christmas lights in the shape of penises. you need to get a set of those! if they dont already make them, just have NGD make a mold of his penis and turn them into christmas lights. full scale shouldnt be hard to make... they would only be about 1 inch long! image
  • Haha. I shudder at the thought of a tree decorated with something like that.
