Greatest action movie of all time
Currently spending Saturday morning debating with my wife what the greatest action movie of all time is.
I say the original Terminator. It’s so epic and dark. The atmosphere is phenomenal. Plus that scene where he rips out the punk guy‘s heart? Come on.
She says Die Hard which I think is a totally valid choice.
What do you guys think?

See I think the original terminator was superior in terms of atmosphere and originality. While I love it, T2 feels bigger, brighter, and more marketable. Not as gritty.
Mad Max: Fury Road will give T2 a run for its money though...

That is exactly why i think T2 fits better as an action movie though. T1 was a great movie for the reasons you mentioned, but it was more of a thriller/horror movie to me than a straight up action movie. The movies have 2 very different feels to them.
It like comparing Alien to Aliens. 2 very different movies.

Absolutely. Nothing in the last 20 years even comes close, IMO.

Followed by Predator (which is a bit of sci fi horror as well) and Terminator.
Aliens take 4th place with Terminator 2 in 5th.
I would mention Conan, but it is a fantasy epic, not an action movie.

Not the only one. The Running Man featured the same two governors. Though released a few months after Predator.

Yes. Forgot about that one. Arnold and Jesse were/are friends so that makes sense.
