Gloves for handling items?

What do you think about it instead of worrying about the hands having some bodily residue or moist from washing just putting ok some gloves instead? I was thinking those hospital type of tight transparent ones might be the best but others have talked about white cotton ones.

  • White cotton if anything.
  • Yeah, that's the type delivery people use to handle items that might get smudged (TVs, artwork, etc.)
  • Ok this is goin a bit too far, lol

Honesty I was thinking the same thing at first but certain items should be handled that way.

  • Nice try BUD

Was thinking the same.  We’re not talking about the Mona Lisa.
  • I'll handle your items for you, sure.
  • A vote for me is a vote for clean games and tasty cardboard.

  • I think if you wash your hands before handling stuff you should be alright.

But the soap has this perfume scent to it and also gives this smooth texture to the underside of the hands i'm really not sure it doesn't impact cardboard surfaces on contact.

I'm unscented, and hardly ever smooth at all. I can handle this job, with your support!

  • Gloves can handle my items anytime!
  • You guys are disgusting to people who have standards.

Good thing I have none, so please continue.
  • They are actually pretty good for wiping the fingerprints off of a LCD screen, the clear/yellow vinyl ones

What items are we talking about? Rare CIB games? How often are you handling them?

  • People at game stores dont even wear gloves for $3000+ items. Just don't be gross when touching stuff and you should be fine.
  • Most of the things in our hobby have been haphazardly stored in garages, basements, attics, closets, sheds, storage units, and crawl spaces for the better part of their lives. Virtually nothing in the hobby is so precious and unique that it would require ark of the covenant level sensitivity in regards to human touch with the exception of perhaps undumped 1-of-a-kind prototypes.

I would gladly open a CIB Stadium Events, place a NWC Gold in an NES, and take out a sticker sealed Super Mario Bros. from an acrylic case. Carefully of course, but no need for gloves.

I wouldn't considered people at gamestores as some epitome standard of preservation exactly. Not that they're incredibly sloppy either but what i'm talking about is whole 'nother issue.

CIB's, inserts, regular A4 papers sometimes. I'm not handling them too often but maybe something once a month when i get it, maybe a little more?

No i don't think so in think most have been put on a shelf by someone or a few different times from changing hands. But shit like having petted the dog during or before fiddling with the game, touched something else in our outside the home, someone in the vicinity was smoking etc. is probably more common.

That's a slap with the proverbial glove, Gloves!
  • The way I handle them is after I eat a bag of Doritos, I wipe off the grease from my fingers on the side of my pants or shirt. That usually works out okay for me.
