Possible fake??? Killer instinct gameboy

Hi guys, I recently bought a cartridge only killer instinct. Region code dmg-aklp-gps. When I inspected the cartridge it looked like the label itself was poorly printed and there's no stamp on the label. I opened the cartridge and everything looks legit... is there anybody here who can verify this?

  • Why would somebody fake KI for the Gameboy?

(also see my second post below for info on the GPS region code -- I think your game is legit, as GPS code were end-of-console-life reprints done at a lower quality than original run)

Here is a picture of the one I sold recently on eBay, for reference, regarding what the US label looked like.

  • Without seeing the cart, it seems most likely the label was damaged and someone printed one out themselves. If you post a pic I'm sure someone here would be able to tell you.
  • Yeah it looks like someone printed a label on you for replacement. If the corners are cut like Arch's photo it is likely a homemade label. Here's the reference page on KI for gameboy for your reference as well:

  • PS -- here is a link to a very old Nintendoage thread about the "GPS" region code:

Basically they used the GPS region code for end-of-console-life reprints, and it sounds like they may have been lower quality due to cost cutting.

I suspect your game is legit.
  • After reading all this it is for sure legit, but I never heard if the gps region. All corners are perfect aswell...
  • Great link ... didn't realize that was a thing. I think I'll go home from work now as I just learned something today.

GPS - General Piece of Sh*t is what I'm hearing in that thread.... scraps from the end of life printing. hah
