Nintendo UK Rep folder August 1994
As most collectors I browse ebay searching 'rare' and nothing usually pops up. Then I saw this little gem and I knew I had to have it! The ebay description:
"This is a very rare promo item and I don't think I've every seen one for sale. I had a games shop back in the early 90's and every month we would get a visit form reps for different consoles and developers. The Nintendo rep would come around and show you a preview video (on VHS) of what was coming up and go through his marketing pack.
This is one of those marketing packs from August 1994. It comes in a ring binder with Donkey Kong, Rumble in the Jungle as the main content as this is what all the push for this visit was about, the original VHS cassette is still here and inside the pack are previews of up and coming games like Donkey Kong Country, the release of the Super Game Boy, Stunt Race FX, Super Metroid, Secret of Mana etc etc
Their is a timeline of releases, product availability, Nintendo facts and Figs and so on.
In the very back is a copy of the official Nintendo magazine from Aug #23.
This whole pack is in good condition and is surely a great piece for any Nintendo collector as I'm sure they are still very few and far between"
I put a ridiculous bid in and was plesently surprised at how much I got it for. Its broken down into the foloowing sections: Donkey kong Country, Super Gamboy, New Technology, Product information, Marketing Information. What i enjoy most is the facts a figures to do with the UK market. I've attached some pictures but there is so much more in this folder!

Noice pick up. What was the winning bid?
£41 + PP. I expected it to go higher
Do people do this?? I can't imagine how much crap you sort through. Sounds like you got a great deal on this though, what a cool thing.
Also, amazing and VERY interesting to see a completely new piece of sexist marketing from Nintendo there, with the Samus ad, never seen that before! If anything, this one is even more sexist than the "will you save the girl or play like one" OoT ad, as "doing whatever like a girl" is a pretty common turn of phrase, whereas this ad is blatantly saying "She's a girl so she need a change of clothes, because girls, amirite?".
Of course, I will not comment specifically on matters relating to the morality or politics of either ad, one way or the other. But, it is interesting to see that Nintendo had prior form with sexist ads that no one knew about, and from only a couple years prior.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play Dr. Mario while whistling "Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang Walla walla, bang bang"!
The 90s were crazy man!
