CD/DVD Style Protector Bags

What is your preference when it comes to CD/DVD style protector bags? I prefer to have the adhesive on the body instead of on the flap but I don't think VGBoxProtectors or RetroProtection sells them.

  • I'm interested to hear what you find. I'm looking to buy hundreds, more likely thousands, of well-made, quality bags but I can't find ones I like. I've tried 2 different brands from eBay sellers: the first were cheap and thin so I immediately returned them. The second (Columbia Hobby brand) were decent quality but the adhesive was on the body where the CD spine would be. You couldn't really seal it without adding your own (archival) tape on the flap, which kind of defeats the purpose of the adhesive! So I have 1 pack of each of these below coming from Amazon. I'm not picky about the adhesive being on the body or flap, I just want them to seal up snugly. I didn't think it would be so hard to find good ones!

  • Polyline might have something for you. I've been happy with them in the past. Not on this specifically but have a look around their website.

  • Again, the problem I have with those is the adhesive is on the flap. You can try with all your might but you will end up getting the game stuck to it at least a couple of times vs. if it's on the body you don't have to worry about it.
  • Yea it's rather frustrating trying to compare online because most pictures don't show anything clearly. Most pictures are trying to show you how un-noticeable they are! I would also prefer adhesive on the bag rather than the flap, but even more important to me is having the opening on the side vs. the top. Neither one is a dealbreaker, but I really would love to find the "perfect" bags since I'll be buying so many. I'll update this thread this weekend after my 2 different brands from Amazon arrive.

Has anyone purchased CD or DVD bags from RetroProtection?

  • austin532, you'll be happy to hear these bags by UNIQUEPACKING do have the adhesive on the bag, not the flap. However, the Amazon description is wrong - they do not open on the short side, but the long (top) side.

That is the 2nd link in my original post above. They work well enough for a single jewel case, but they seem just perfect for the double-digipak style CDs that you see a lot with Deluxe Editions and such. Like a fitted glove... so satisfying (and not good if you'll need to remove/replace it often).

The bags from the first link (Square Deal brand) I didn't even realize are "flush cut", which just leaves one end open - but it's the top (or bottom) side, not the short side which would make sense. Their double-CD ("chubby") bags DO have adhesive on the bag, seal up nicely and are the highest quality. I'll need to research, but if Square Deal makes a resealable CD bag, that would be the best one to get in terms of quality. Side by side with UNIQUEPACKING, Square Deal just looks and feels nicer.

  • Whether they open on the side or top does not bother me much. I get it though, ones that open on top have a seam on the side which doesn't look as nice. Chubby is an interesting word for double jewel case.

I understood what you're looking for. But I'm not sure where you're getting that from. It says no seal. I don't think that bag has adhesive on it. I could be wrong, my cell phone's browser is out of date. But again they have many permutations of products and might have what you want if that isn't it.
  • The description for the Polyline bags does say "No seal" but that's obviously not true because you can see the adhesive seal strip in the pics! And the adhesive does seem to be on the flap.

Here are 2 links to the Square Deal brand CD bags, one from Amazon and the other from Ebay.

I've ordered a bag of 100 and they will be here in a few days. If they are the same quality as the "chubby" 2CD bags, I expect to like them best. The other brand that I linked 2 posts above are -good enough- but they do leave a little slack on each side of the jewel case. I hoping the Square Deal brand will be fit just a little more snug. Both have adhesive strip on the bag.
  • Sorry to keep bumping this thread, but I'm on a mission here! I found a site called Bags Unlimited that seems very highly regarded. They do seem a bit pricier than other options, but still worth a look. The site is very handy in that they explain exactly what features each product does (or doesn't) have. I'm going to purchase a 100-count bag of product number SCD625R which is about halfway down the page and I'll update with thoughts after they arrive.

    I couldn't, but now I'm on a computer and I can.

    What about this one? https://www.polylinecorp.com/disc-packaging/polyline-resealable-cd-jewel-case-bag-clear-glossy-1-5-mil-polypropylene-py-cdrsppc-500.html

It has a peel off strip. (I expect the other one does too but this explicitly says so.) You don't have to peel it off.
