Music Debate I: Linkin Park

Ratings key:

10 - One of your very favorite artists of all time.

9 - Killer fucking band.  Or artist.

8 - Great sound, great songs, great albums.

7 - Very good, but not quite great.

6 - Pretty good.  More than a few songs you like.  You'd entertain the thought of seeing them live if they were in the area.  Or still alive.

5 - They're okay, but maybe not something you'll go out of your way to listen to.

4 - Meh.  There may be a song or two, or an album that you dig, but you'd rather listen to other stuff.

3 - Not very good.  You will more likely than not turn the station if they come on the radio.

2 - Not your cup of tea at all.  Some people like this, but you are not one of them.

1 - Horrible in every way.

0 - In the running for worst artist/musician of all time.  You would rather take a cheese grater to your face than listen to this.

I will tally scores after one month week

Standings:

4.33 - Linkin Park

  • I voted for a 6/10 before tour scoring system. Can I change mine to a 4/10 please.
  • My phone didnt register me putting then at 1/10 so my default vote was the accident al 10/10. I think they're garbage with the exception of like 1 song. Even then, I dont actively listen to them I just went skip that 1 song if it happens to come on the radio or a streaming service
  • Jesus you guys

Okay, I will reset the scores this ONE time.
  • You sure you cant reset it one more time
  • 2, easy choice for pretty much anything I don't like.
  • 10/10 for sure, single handedly reinforced the hard rock genre
  • Depends on the album.
  • I honestly didn't even know they were still around until Chester passed.

I had the chance to see them right after Hybrid Theory came out, in Baltimore (Fell's Point). Problem was that none of us were 21, so we weren't allowed in the door. We dropped acid instead. Good times.

I was never a fan, and personally hold them responsible for a lot of the garbage nu metal during that time, but I'll admit a few of their songs are decent.
  • 6/10, I don't actively listen to them, I like a few of their albums, I rarely ever go out of my way to listen to them but I enjoy them for the most part. I've never seen them live and, well, now I'll never get to but I'm not really bothered by it.
  • 5, maybe

now that i'm older I just see it as another batch of teen angst/butthurt music.
  • Loved their earlier albums, but not their latest...so for that I gave em a 7. Great concert too back in the day.
  • Very talented band. One of the best of their era (late 90s thru 2000s). Worthy of a 10 in my book.
  • They're the perfect band for angsty 14 year olds. I half cringe listening to anything by them now because their music instantly reminds me of how embarrassing it is to be an angsty 14 year old, so it's hard to rate them overall. I still dig Breaking the Habit though.
  • It’s just too bad the poll only goes as low as 0/10
  • 5/10. It's alright.

    Hahahahha!!!

    That was pretty good.

  • I still rank them above Limp Bizkit .
  • Hybrid Theory was great back in 2000 when it came out and I was in high school. It hasn't held up one bit and my musical tastes have matured since I was 16.
  • 3/10 for me. All of one song of theirs might make me not turn the radio station if it came on.

I'd rank a duet of Rebecca Black and the dude who does fart noises with his hands above Limp Bizkit.

  • I think their popularity came in-part from the early 2000s being a cultural/musical desert
  • Voted. I like your ratings key. Keep 'em coming.
  • 4/10. When i was in high school and metal af, i ranked them as 1. As an adult and now that ive given them a fair listen, i see the appeal. Not my thing, but I have to admit they have some damn catchy beats.
  • A 2 max. Seen them live on the Summer Sanitarium tour. It only helped solidify how terrible they were.
  • Loved them as a kid in elementary/high school. Having listened more recently, I would say that my tastes have changed, if not evolved. Frankly I think it's because I WAS in a pretty shitty situation as a kid and if nothing else the lyrics jived with me. Not so much these days, life is good.
  • I should just lock/delete/ban this thread, clearly no one is taking it very seriously if this monumental band of pioneers is only a 4/10
  • I voted 2/10 before i saw a ranking chart description

After reading the descriptions id probably change it to a 3/10

My comment is serious. Linkin Park is not good and they were even worse live.
