Looks like he actually really built his numbers in imports. Also, he makes a funny accident calling his SMS collection "Game Gear"

He also shows "complete" SNES and NES sets.

Anyway, I think this puts things to bed. Also, JBD is clearly not his best title, he's got a MACS FFS.

  • Lol, the bit where he drops Hotel Mario and then does that quick "YIKES" look to the camera! Hilarious!

So, now at least we can shut up about him not having enough games, or the right games, or whatever! We should move on to criticizing other aspects of his personality, appearance, manner and general lifestyle.
  • Aw man the Nintendo stuff gets the closet treatment because he's a Sega guy. The indignity! Happy to get a full walkthrough of this guy's room. Kind of funny to see his modern CEs literally stacked in a pile in the corner of a closet. I feel the same way about them dude!
  • That is definitely quite the collection! I wonder

    1) Did the folks from Guinness actually count every single game for verification? I assume so, but curious how that was done.

    2) do duplicates count? I assume not.

    3) is the collection insured? I assume so. And what is the estimated value? I estimate he spent 500k-1 million for the collection. Well, maybe closer to 2 million, but what's a factor of two anyway...
  • Watching this video made me smile that he could silence the critics. I'm happy for the guy.

Only thing that's would make me nervous is his collection is in his attic. In certain areas of Texas they common frame roof systems so you have space to store stuff but if he has a leak it's in his game room.

As far as value i would say its just shy 500k (not including sweat equity)

    Overall "A" in my book
  • Hey I have that same shirt, haha.
  • "Atari and Gauge games...

...One was called Max Basic Rifle Marksmanship Program. It was released by Nintendo exclusively to the US Military for shooting practice and was never sold to the public...

...and a series of educational Sega Dreamcast games such as Timeless Math."

Top notch job editing this article Guiness! Does anyone have some And Gauge games?

My buddy calls it the "basic bitch" of the collector attire. That shirt is akin to Ugg boots,  LuLulemon stretch pants, a North Face jacket and a grande Starbucks cup.

...I have like 3 copies of that shirt....

Also, damn stacks-of-random-shit-on-the-floor-collector... Games are meant to be shelved!

Are you kidding? Chicks will be crawling all OVER him now he's the record game collector! Nothing gets panties wet faster than a huge stack of tender tapes.

I mean, dude's wife might not be so happy about that, but you can build EITHER a great game collection OR a good marriage... Man's made his choice!

I do get the satire, I really do but as much as I like to be a goof my comment stands still. I don't get the obsessive accumulation of material objects like this......There is no way he is going to enjoy all those games he has already surpassed his lifetime in games played......What is the point?

I get your point, totally, as I am also more of a gamer than a collector. I did start to get a little queasy as the video went on and on and it was just wall after wall, stack after stack of games. Each individual title, each potentially joyous game experience rendered a little less special as the piles of unplayed games gets taller.

It reminds me a little of when I used to smoke, looking at a full ashtray at the end of a weekend bender... Each individual cigarette was enjoyed during its consumption, "just the one", but looking at the tray and imaging all that smoke inside your lungs just fully revolting! Not exactly the same situation here, of course, but the feeling of gross excess is similar.

Then again, dude clearly has a passion, it's his money, his collection, he can do what he likes. And there is, I believe, a place for collecting for collecting's sake, undoubtedly. So, at the end of the day, despite my own feelings, I support him to do what he do.

Really? I mean, we all spend money on what we want. Did you go to the bar this week? Maybe buy yourself some new skis?  Did you play video games this week? That's time you could have spent at a soup kitchen giving meals to the homeless!

I mean, we all spend our time and money on things that make us happy. If amassing a giant collection of video games made him happy, didn't hurt anyone else, why judge it?

The numbers still don't add up to 20K no matter how you look at it...there is a discrepancy numbers wise or doubles issue somewhere unless he is missing things not stated in the video.
