OK, da fuq? Doki Doki Panic requires you beat the game with all 4 characters, saves your progress, you can beat it in almost any order, doesn't have running...

Yes, SMB2 was based on Doki Doki Panic, but it's so far from the original game, that's ridiculous. It's almost like something someone would say to sound smart. Oh wait...

Ouch so hostile. Go get a snickers.

Let's call probotector, gryzor, and contra three different games too.

Also, mike Tyson's and regular Punch Out are different.

Sprite swaps versus fundamental changes to game design. Yeah, totally equivalent. #Strawman.

There are a lot of differences in games across regions. You have to draw a line somewhere and everyone has different opinions. I'm not forcing anyone to see it my way, even though it's the right way.

I forgot, you were going to play Caltron and Myriad 6-in-1 for your book. Apparently, at that point, you considered a "sticker" made them different games. Consistentcy isn't exactly your strong suit.

That's not nearly as bad as the situation with Bic / Realtek Famicom carts.
  • It looks like an impressive collection. Kudos for his time and effort he put into this.

On the lighter side, I feel I should Facebook stalk him in case there's a future garage sale.
  • I don't know if its old news at this point but the full video of just him showing the collection came out. He has complete sets of just about every Nintendo system as well. The video shown on this thread only really shows the worst of what he has.

Looks like he actually really built his numbers in imports. Also, he makes a funny accident calling his SMS collection "Game Gear"

He also shows "complete" SNES and NES sets.

Anyway, I think this puts things to bed. Also, JBD is clearly not his best title, he's got a MACS FFS.

Probably got lost amongst all the salt and tears in this thread, lol!
  • Congrats to the guy for the record! 20,000 is hard to fathom. I'm sure he has some true rates and would love to see a more detailed list or vid. Last Gamer does have an impressive collection and some very rare games (and a ton of imports). Doesn't he have one of the Air Raid carts too? I want to see DreamTR's game-room tour! His NWC story still has to be the GOAT idea in the history of this hobby and I'd love to see the rare stuff he has.
  • He has a complete PS3 and Xbox 360 collection. I've never seen a list of those set, I'd be interested in what he has listed and how he's tracked it. Also, he mentions FIFA 15 for the Wii being a Mexico only release, I think he meant FIFA 14. Anyways, no doubt the dude has a huge collection. Its amazing he fit all that in the upstairs of his house, props to him.

If this little mini-exchange is truly the only reason behind your word selection and hostility here and there's not some bitter history between you two I don't know about, you need a super king-sized Snickers dude. With almonds. Chill.

I achieved most of my initial goals for my book though.

I got my mind off of my dead son by playing NES games and trying to make something nice for the community to enjoy. I think you can relate to having a tragic loss Adam.

I also tried a mini book and couldn't get even any interest on that, if no one wanted a cheap handy checklist by me then who wants the 400+ page monster that I was working on?

Also, 5%? Really man? Just like yourself I've made a ton of contributions to the collecting scene. But no, you show solidarity with a total fool, DarkKobold, and have to question my intelligence.

    C'mon man.

I thank you for holding your breath for me for nearly 10 years, but please take a breath because I didn't really finish that experiment. I was just destroying boxes with no usable findings because I had no clue what I was doing.

However, if you were really paying attention to my every whim on the internet like you think you were then you would realize that I've posted occassionally about this topic. The only thing I really learned from that experiment is things on the "red" (magenta) side of the color spectrum fade first, then yellow, then "blue" (cyan), then black. In fact, using that knowledge I gave reasonable doubt to discrediting a label variant for a black box game (I think it was 10-yard fight?)

It's nice to know I have stalker level fans so obsessed with everything I try, and people who eagerly await the things I do at my leisure. It's comforting knowing that I'm that special to you man.

I eagerly await for you to follow my lead and start contributing something to the hobby, beyond your cheap shots at a guy who's actively in love with not just the collectible aspect of our hobby, but the fine details about it too. But in your defense you did make a single chart http://i.imgur.com/YYBvv.jpg

I had a real hard time finding anything that someone might find handy or even worthwhile on your reddit and NA profiles.

You hit me, so here's the favor in return, and only since asking nicely won't work. Please...fuck off.

For starters, I didn't even make that chart, lol.

Also, in true narcissitic form, you say that I'm both stalking you, and not stalking you enough.

And, let's recount what EXACTLY happened when you first made up that bullshit non-existent experiment. You said something to the effect of items not in sunlight fade at a rate of 1/10th those in sunlight! Which.... of course was dumb. When I called you on it, you said you were doing an experiment. So, that isn't how science works. You don't get to state a "fact" before the experiment even starts. This means you lied (1/10th) and then created another lie in attempt to cover that lie. Also, you just spouted some other crap, which I 110% do not believe. You are the king of making stuff up.

I should also note, this was AFTER your ridiculous NWC lie, in which you said EPROMS would erase slower than mask-created chips on an NES cart.

Honestly, Contributing NOTHING would be better than continually making up lies to sound intelligent and informed on this hobby. When you get called on it, you stamp your feet, say you're being treated unfair, and then you do fuck off for a while only to come back like a bad herpes infection.

You talking about me and JJ Hendricks' PowerFest? I'm 100% open on that topic, that wasn't a hush money deal, that was an amicable solution to missing a deadline and was clear and concise in our contractual agreement we made together. I couldn't come up with the funds I needed to complete the deal because the silver market tanked.

Want proof? I have the contract right by my desk. I can even ask JJ himself to pop in on the topic, me and him still swap info.

Honestly I can't even remember what I said that long ago better than you do. Clearly you do follow me, a lot.

Also, If a claiming a hypothesis as fact almost 10 years ago can completely make all other future contributions worthless then every scholar on the planet is a damn dumbass and only people who contribute nothing are the real smart people.

Saying I'm unintelligent, that's just a dick move on your part and a childish insult.

Saying I'm uninformed in this hobby. I don't even have to defend myself on that front.

Oh, and since we're nitpicking arguments. Saying "EXACTLY" in all caps then saying "I said something to the effect" sort of invalidates you.

Lastly, I have literally zero recollection of saying EPROMS erase SLOWER than mask-ROMs. If I did then boy was that uninformed...good thing I had 10 years to learn....oh wait, you haven't learned anything in the past 10 years I guess. That's why you expect me to stay the same...hahah

(Mods should be incoming soon. Please, feel free to make a private topic and invite me to argue your guys points a little more. I'm sure DarkKobold the "intellectual" would love a friendly discussion as he's so docile and not a provocateur at all.)

Yes, when a scientist claims their hypothesis as a result (aka falsifying data) it's the end of their career.  Also, I'm not 'nitpicking' your words. I'm flat out calling you a liar.

You deleted your reddit account, and with it went your falsehoods, sadly.

Do you only do things that people want, or only things that make you money?

That's the thing with you - you put on this show, but once it comes down to substance, there's nothing there. You continually make up shit to sound informed on topics you clearly have no idea about. It's old.
  • Alright guys. Enough is enough. If you want to take it to PM that's on you all, but this conversation has nothing to do with the thread in hand so if any more posts are made ... this thread shall be locked and we will never be able to discuss the new world record game collection that so many people are hating while admiring in all its new gen glory.

    Consider this the only warning.
  • EDIT: Taken to PM

  • Don't Worldstar this one into a lock, I wanna talk about this damn collection and see the new updated videos with the full Nintendo sets someone talked about a little while back.

If it does get locked we can always make a new topic when the time comes.

Besides, I've had my say in the arguments and I've taken it to PMs as well.

Also, for future readers on this topic: I'd still like Adam to retract his statement about hush money until he can tell me whatever it is I'm "hushing". I'm 100% open about the bad things I've done in the past and hush money is not one of them.
  • I just want to say, this is officially my favourite thread of all time now, beating out that one by the guy who said he wanted to make a fullset of repro boxes to adorn his game room.

My only wish now is that somehow, in some way, we can actually contact this world record holder and get him into the thread to comment himself. He needs to witness the glorious mess he is directly responsible for here, and atone for his many, many crimes!

I have a 360 list that I curated before the wikipedia page sucked. I didn't include FIFA 19 and El Chavo Kart as American for the set because they were Mexican exclusives. He seems like he counts them. I wish I kept better track of the region free games not released in America. I've hunted down a few and check for deals from time to time on the others.

The variants get crazy for the system. It's so hard to tell if different editions have content on disc or just offer downloads.

That would still leave him with about 25,000 more to collect!
