Also thinking about Vegas Dream, would Las Vegas be considered a pop culture icon?
Not really. I think you have to leave out the more nebulous ones, or you could make the stretch that just about every video game is based on something in pop culture. I mean, Contra is basically an Aliens game in everything but name.
I still think Batman ROTJ shouldn't be comics since it's a sequel game. Probably best listed as movie. I mean, Top Gun: The Second Mission is listed as a movie game even though there wasn't a movie sequel.
Oh, and if you're striving for accuracy, the vast majority of The Three Stooges episodes appeared in movie theaters as comedy shorts before the main feature. Only a small handful first aired on TV, none of which to my knowledge were the shorts the minigames were based on.

Accuracy is important, but I think there's some lines that need to be blurry.
I'll add ROTJ based on the fact that Top Gun: Second Mission, and Goonies II is on the list as well.
How about the original Kung Fu? In Japan it was based on the movie Spartan X ( which we got as Wheels on Meals.) The NES localization even retained the names of Jackie Chan's character and his girlfriend from the movie.
It's also arguably an adaptation of Bruce Lee's Game of Death (though not officially.)
Oh, and Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates is based on a very short lived cartoon, not a movie.
This is an impressive comprehensive list, it really glaringly shows how much game content was leeched off of existing IP's then, my suggestion would be 1943: The Battle of Midway for Historical category? I know its a stretch but and you could shoehorn 1942 in there too
edit: you could also argue that any sports game with a league license could make the list
Love that game, i remember watching rollergames after wwf on saturday mornings. as bad as wrestling was scripted rollergames was way worse. but i couldnt not watch.
Good suggestions everyone. I'll fix it when I get to a pc.
Also I need to add Track & Field because of PAL regions "Track & Field in Barcelona" which is based on the Olympiad there.
Also, Goal! 2 because in PAL regions it's a licensed game called "Eric Cantona's Football Challenge: Goal! 2" or something like that.
As far as the crocodile Dundee reference, I agree so I’ll put it in the “considerable aspects” category. If that list gets too big then might have to take a step back and reevaluate it. I can see it getting way over complicated by adding references as minor as Zombie Nation being a Classical Japanese ghost, or the Tanooki suit in Mario 3 referencing Japanese folk lore.
Maybe Space Shuttle Project should go under vehicle?
Also, the PAL Corvette ZR1 Challenge, since it features a real vehicle. (Race America alludes to the idea that it's a Dodge Viper in appearance and specs, but doesn't explicitly state it to my knowledge.)
Was Anticipation a Board Game before it was an NES game? If not, I'm not sure that should count, since it isn't really based on anything. By that stretch, every spots title should count too. Also, it might be semantics, but the Three Stooges were film actors, not television actors. People might recognize them more from TV because their films were from our grandparents generation, but they definitely spent the vast majority of their career in theaters.
Edit: One more thing, Carmen Sandiego was a PC game long before the Game Show on PBS in 1991, so that shouldn't count either.
P.S: Working on unlicensed, and PAL now too...Noah's Ark, and Devil World....you based on the Bible or what?
Noah's Ark, definitely. Along with a few Wisdom Tree games (Bible Adventures, Exodus, Joshua and King of Kings yes; Bible Buffet, Sunday Funday, and Spiritual Warfare no.)
Devil World's imagry is too generic to point to anything specific beyond crosses and a devil.
As for the questionable ones:
Adventures of Bayou Billy - original video game property, similar to Crocodile Dundee, but really just a generic Cajun hero.
Conan: The Mysteries of Time - based on the Conan short stories by Robert E. Howard, or at least the character is. No specific Conan story or book.
Journey to Silius - while it may be a Terminator game at heart, the end product is its own unique property.
Maniac Mansion - original
Mario Is Missing! - lots of games incorporate real world elements. I think this one is a stretch to count.
Mario's Time Machine - ditto
Monster Party - inspired by classical monsters, including Japanese ones, but I think it doesn't count. Otherwise Castlevania would count.
Xenophobe - rips off Aliens, but so did Alien Syndrome and Contra. I say it's a unique (though not terribly original) video game property.
OK, I've added PAL, Unlicensed, PAL Unlicensed, and Sachen games.
I think this list is pretty much complete.
I'd like to add games like "Poker I" or the "Super Cartridges" from Sachen but that will also lead to me needing to add every card game...maybe they do belong in here.
Casino Kid...Casino Kid II....where do you belong.

Also, if you want to get really bizarre, the end boss of Amagon is based on the Flatwoods Monster legend.

Rollerblades are a brand of Inline Skates....this list is starting to get really blurry.

I would move the Muppet/Sesame Street stuff to TV series and not cartoon.
Rollergames is a TV show.

I think I'm going to leave out 1942/1943 since it's a little too loosely based on the events of WW2.
P.S: Working on unlicensed, and PAL now too...Noah's Ark, and Devil World....you based on the Bible or what?
