I'll wait until it's on Netflix. Still haven't watched Solo even though that's on Netflix. Guess I just lost interest due to them putting out a new movie every single year.
To your point on call of duty. I dont really play them besides black ops or a campaign years later. I mean they arent my favorite thing so i ignore them. Hearing about it, and people liking or hating them doesnt affect me.
Something even once a year(solo barely even counts in the case of star wars) getting burnt out sounds weird to me. Call of duty is something you play for hours. A movie is s 2 hour sit down. Just entirely different.
You get burnt out on stuff like food, eating the same thing each day or multiple times a month. But a movie once in a year? And incase of the main movies 2 years?
Yeah, but people get tired of hearing the same old talk all the time. While each movie may bring something new and different, it's still just more repetitive SW banter. I've already spent 20 minutes between reading this thread, watching the trailer, and responding I'll have to have these same discussions again on Monday at work, and probably Tuesday through Thursday.
I'm already sick of the new SW talk and the trailer just dropped

Basically how I feel about it as well, I haven't watched 8 or Solo.
I do wonder if some of the burnout is not necessarily from the movies themselves, but from the saturation of media that analyzes every little tidbit of the franchise. Technology and the way we interact today didn't exist during the other trilogies, and now we have so many pop culture sites and youtube channels that post tons of articles and videos that discuss everything we see in a trailer or tidbit in one of the comic books. So while I understand people thinking a movie each year is a lot (it's not for me), I think the burnout might be more attributable to the fandom.

Lol then you havent seen a star wars movie in 3 years. What do you have to be burnt out on? You arent burnt out. You just dont care about star wars.

No I don't but what I do give a shit about is recycling.
People will complain about anything. I feel like hating on star wars is the cool thing to do right now
People even complain about people complaining
Lol idc what people do. Just calling it how I see it. People act like these are some of the worst movies ever made and they're just not. Are they perfect, definitely not, but they're not terrible

That’s the thing tho - it’s just someone’s opinion. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. Why people get bent out of that is beyond me. Instead, people get defensive and act like assholes to try and diminish what those who have opposing opinions are saying.
Of course, if someone’s opposing opinion offends someone, they should probably change their diaper.
Trailer looked awesome!! I really hope it's at least a 3 hour movie. They have to tie all the movies, make sense of the last jedi and fix some things, as well as close the whole saga which I'm not sure can be done in less time......
Couple of thoughts/theories I have from the trailer. First there's probably some misdirect just like how they've been doing with the last two avengers movies.
-I don't think that's Kylo in the ship racing towards Rey, definitely looks like a training scene for a later standoff where that will be used.
-It was definitely Palpatine's laugh but I don't think he's alive, I don't think Snoke is alive either. What we'll probably see is a flashback of a scene where Palpatine is instructing Snoke and realize he was just a puppet this whole time or it's a hologram recording they probably find on that deathstar wreckage.
-I'm thinking force ghost everyone might show up in this one, Anakin, Yoda, Luke, Obi-wan, Qui-gon.
-The title itself "The Rise of Skywalker" I think refers to the rise of a new jedi order, basically a rename for the greys. Luke actually was the last "Jedi" by how they defined a Jedi and now it's time for a new way, The Skywalkers. It could work, kind of a nice homage to the original story and makes sense in description, none of them were fully and formally trained in the way of the Jedi (neither is Rey) and none of them are pure light side or dark side, they've all been more in the middle.
Looking forward to the film, but I thought this trailer was mostly boring. Most of the scenes shown there could have been from the first two films. The only thing about it that really excited me was the image of the submerged Death Star wreckage, that could be cool!
Palpatine was definitely the best thing about the prequels, and having him back, yeah ok, why not? I am a little concerned this is going to be an over-correction from the Last Jedi though. Repairing the lightsaber, repairing the Kylo Ren helmet... I hope this film looks forward rather than scrambling to try and appease the critics of Ep. 8. I am expecting they will do SOME of that, I mean this trailer is basically guaranteeing that, but hopefully it is done in a more creative and interesting way rather than just fan service.
Also, BB-8's new sidekick is worse than any number of porgs, what the hell, lol!
I was in the arena when they premiered the trailer at Star Wars Celebration, was definitely a highlight of the week for me. Everyone lost it when Palpatine's laugh came on. I loved it, and I'm excited for the new movie. Him coming back is cool with me, and I'm hoping they do go with the Palpatine Clone direction. I agree that it is going to be a very disjointed trilogy, and that has been my biggest complaint about Disney's Star Wars movies since TFA. They should have just stuck with one director for all of them. I hated TLJ, but maybe it wouldn't have been as bad if Rian Johnson had his own trilogy and wasn't doing the middle of what basically became JJ's trilogy.
I also was lucky enough to be in The Mandalorian panel and see exclusive footage, including about 10 minutes of an episode, which I guess they didn't live stream. And man does it look amazing!
So... Am I the only one who hasn't seen a single Disney Star Wars film? I didn't want my perception of Star Wars ruined.
You saw the prequel trilogy and are still standing. How could it get worse than episode 2?
Episode 8
Hell no . Lmao not even close to being bad like 2. Go rewatch 2 because my god. There is no way a sane person can say the attack of the clones is better thsn 8. Its just not possible
I'm looking forward to Episode I9 though I didn't think the trailer wasn't anything special. It's the "cool" thing to do, to hate on any Star Wars that isn't part of the original trilogy. I enjoyed Episodes 2, 3, 7 and 8. Episode 1 is the only one I can't sit through. It's just a very cheesy movie and feels more disconnected to the saga than any other. Rogue One was okay, but it's my least favorite of the newer movies (aside from Solo which I haven't seen)

I'm in the crowd that says episodes 1-3 are not as bad as everyone says. They certainly aren't great, but they don't deserve the amount of hate they get. I thought 7 was pretty good and 8 is the only movie I've truly not enjoyed. As far as the other movies go, I loved Rogue One. It's actually my third favorite Star Wars film. I started Solo, but I haven't finished it yet. From what I've seen, it wasn't really grabbing me, and I'll probably rank it near the bottom with 8.
I'm looking forward to 9, but odds are that I won't see it in the theaters.

I don’t remember 2 being terrible, 8 and 1 and Solo were all bad enough that I would consider leaving the theater. I pretty much agree with TDI. From worst to best I would go Solo, 8, 1, 7, 2, 3, 6, 5, Rogue, 4. I’m negotiable on the order of the top 4. If 7 had more originality, and a few less cringy scenes, I would push it higher just for that scene were Darth Vader beasts out on Princess Laia’s ship.

That wasn't 7. It was Rouge One. That scene alone is my favorite scene in all of Star Wars.

TDI - Really? My mistake.
Psychobear - Ya, 8 was rough. I was on the fence after 7, but still open minded, 8 just made me angry. I’ll watch 2 again If I find it online. I remember liking the fact that they showed dif. Jedi masters fighting and I thought Count Dooku was well done.

Why wouldn't Solo count? My only argument is the absence of light sabers. It's got everything else.
I agree it's a Star Wars movie in every sense.
I'll wait until it's on Netflix. Still haven't watched Solo even though that's on Netflix. Guess I just lost interest due to them putting out a new movie every single year.

The look on my 5-year-old daughter's face when Palpatine was laughing at the end makes it worth the price of admission by itself.
