Nope. Full adult when watching 2. I've re-watched 2 more times than I can count, so I've had plenty of time to decide where it goes. I haven't been able to make it through 8 a second time despite multilpe attempts. The movie simply doesn't make sense. It doesn't fit into the universe in any conceivable way. Yet, even if it wasn't a SW movie, it's still written so poorly that it still wouldn't be enjoyable. Therefore it misses the mark in that it isn't a good Star Wars movie or regular movie in general. A total of maybe 3 watchable minutes isn't enough to save it.

Rogue One had almost zero characters I cared about. They did not fully develop any of them. The first half of that movie is a slog. There are some good moments to give me a positive view on the movie, but the characters man. They just arent interesting or made interesting. I had to see it twice just to remember most of the names of the people. When a droid is your most interesting character you have a problem. 7 was a fun movie. Harrison Ford was fantastic reprising Han Solo. When he got killed, you felt it. I saw it coming and still felt it. Now, Jen Erso? Casian? When they were killed, felt nothing. Didnt care. I felt more when the droid got shot.
And Im not one of those people that sit there and complain about the CGI characters in Rogue One. Peter Cushing was done pretty well honestly. Im glad they put him in the movie. He is important in the story. The Leia one was unneccessary, but didnt ruin the movie.
Alright. When I first watched the movie I didn’t realize Peter Cushing was fake. I was trying to figure out how he looked the same, lol. I felt a little bad when they died, but I think it was softened because I was expecting them to die. My gf didn’t see it coming and she was sad. I noticed you put the original three on top, is part of your love for 7 the throwbacks they make to the originals?
While I agree 1 isnt great, I think its better than 2. Clearly better if you could somehow take out 80% of the kid anakin dialogue. Especially that ship flying part.
Alright. I noticed you put the original three on top, is part of your love for 7 the throwbacks they make to the originals?
I liked 7 for many reasons. It tied back to the originals which was fun. Really it was Han Solo that made the movie. Also I like Kylo Ren as an interesting villain. I was loving episode 8 until they went with the decision of ray being no one, and then putting 9 in a box with kylo going full bad, and rey full good. They had a chance to do something different. Wasnt what I wanted, but still wasnt the worst. Far from it.

So you are going with the argument that the 5% of the movie that is done well offsets the 95% that was complete nonsense? I mean, there is nothing wrong with thinking that, but for me, there is way too much wasted time just to watch a few good minutes.
I'll wait for the 10 minute long Director's Cut of Episode 8 and watch that version going forward.

I didnt like Rose. Absolutely do not like that character. Take Rose out and the animal crap scene out, and Id bump the movie over rogue 1. There are problems with 8, but its not as bad as episode 1 or 2. Its just not. 95 percent nonsense is just hyperbole. If you really believe that its because you didnt like the movie and looked for confirmation through others and have been in a episode 8 hating bubble.
Yeah, but Rose doesn't account for 95% of the movie. Take her out and you still have a lot to do just to make even a decent, watchable movie.
I feel like the really badly handled space-physics of the general Star Wars universe account for too much of the explicit plot in Ep 8, where in other episodes it is just window-dressing.
It is easier to ignore the deeply flawed way they handle space when it is mostly cosmetic or due to sound-design considerations, rather than being the core of the plot (i.e. spaceship somehow grinding to a halt because it ran out of fuel -- or the notion of "bombers" in space bombing a larger ship in the way they show at the beginning)

It's really not that, but you keep insisting it every time these discusions come up. Maybe you're stuck in an Episode 2 hating bubble and looking for confirmation through others.
Ep 2 and 8 are both bad imo. If people like them, that's fine, but to try and say "oh you don't like it because it's cool to hate it" is such a dumb and tired argument. I can assure you I immediately disliked the movie when I went to the very first showing in my state (7pm on Thursday the night before it officially released) and before I spoke to anyone about it or looked up any previews or reviews of the movie, and I continued to dislike it after seeing it another 5 times in theaters with different people (unfortunately all pre-purchased/planned before release). I even avoided trailers up until the night before it released so I could go in with little expectations of the plot. And every other Star Wars movie I saw I left the theater happy and excited, even if those feelings toward it faded over this time. But this one I just left the theater feeling bummed at how much I didn't like it, because I really wanted to love it and was so excited for it.
It's been a year and a half. It's not even the newest Star Wars movie anymore. I think you just need to accept that a lot of people think it's a bad movie, not because they are being told to think that.
Bingo. That was a big piece of it. Everything doesn't need to be realistic all of the time, but it does need to be somewhat consistent.
I think if you look back over all the movies, the terrible space physics are pretty consistently handled -- that is, their spaceflight is equivalent to atmospheric flight in more ways than it is equivalent to actual space flight. (they also always seem to act on a plane, rather than use much in the way of 3-D space)
It isn't the consistency that is the problem, IMO.
Just choosing that particular element as a major plot device, versus any of the other magical or fantastical things we're suspending our disbelief for.
Since Star Wars was originally released, the vast majority of sci-fi (aside from Star Wars and Star Trek) have tried to having increasingly plausible representations of space flight.
Both of those series, though, decided that their original mishandling of space needed to be a deeply held canon for their story universes.
While I agree 1 isnt great, I think its better than 2. Clearly better if you could somehow take out 80% of the kid anakin dialogue. Especially that ship flying part.
Even with the cheesy love scenes and bad acting in Ep 2 I still think even the action scenes were better in Ep 2 than 1. You'd have to edit a lot of stuff in Ep 1 to make it a decent film. In my eyes it's basically unsalvagable. Ep 2 I feel like could've been good if they changed the tone to a little more serious and focused less on emo Anakin's love struggles and more on the impending war. Ironically Episode 1 was my first Star Wars. I never saw one until my friends "forced" me to go opening day for Episode 1 since they were fanatics. I really liked Episode 1 the first time I saw it, because I had nothing to compare to. I even liked Episode 2 a lot the first time. But then I went and saw Ep 4,5,6 and yeah 1 & 2 paled in comparison. I can go back adn watch 2 and have a decent time. I'd even say 75% of the movie was decent, not great but decent. 1 had about 20 minutes of good stuff (pod racing, final battle) but the rest was just poorly done. Even if you took out the absolute worst things in the entire series (Jar Jar and baby Anakin) it would still not be a good movie. Liam Neeson wasn't even very good in the movie and he was probably the best thing about Episode 1. I know people really hate Episode 2. I kind of get why, but I just felt there was more to enjoy in the movie than 1. Then Episode 3 came and basically fixed all the problems 1 & 2 had IMO.
The problems i had with 3 were the rushed forced story of anakins turn, a few sections of dialogue/delivery, and little too much forced unnecessary callbacks. Being pg-13 though made it much better than the previous 2
My one big issue with the new trilogy is rey. If she truly isnt connected to the skywalkers of other movies than these movies feel more like a new trilogy with some skywalkers in it and not an actual skywalker trilogy. If they make her no one id rather the story just be focused on and about kilo ren instead.
You're opinion. I think its completely hyperbole and nonsense. But you can have that opinion
