Notre Dame Cathedral
Just saw a news flash on this. Apparently it's a very large fire, and with no one knowing how it started.

I hope the damage isn't too extensive.
Unfortunately, most of the reports are saying it's pretty damn bad. Like, nothing inside is left.
Man, the thing stood for over 800 years.
I bet he has a hunch.
They need to ask Quasimodo how the fire started.

Well, it looks like the main stone structure survived. A lot of relics were either removed prior to the renovation, or were in a portion thought to be undamaged by the fire. Also, the spire that collapsed wasn't the original spire, but a replacement built sometime in the 19th century.
By chance the stone structure (especially the facade, which is just out of this world) is somewhat safe, cause in the afternoon, some officials weren't sure what could be saved. There was also a lot of efforts from the firemen to actually save the most significant artworks and relics that were inside, be it by the fire or the water thrown to stop it (the tricky part with these kind of fire).
But all the wood structure, which was still partially original from the 12th century, is definitely gone. That's still a sad day.

Can you imagine being the construction worker responsible for burning down priceless history? Geez...
If this is what happened, that person is not going to sleep well tonight, lol.

Hopefully it wasn't any one individual.
Those wood planks on the scaffolding didn't help either.
Oddly, something similar happened to the original St. Paul's cathedral in London. They were working on restoring it and had scaffolding erected. Then the Great London Fire swept through, the scaffolding caught fire, and anything that could burn did.
They'll probably blame it on an electrical fire, always do. Always blame the most handsome boys.
These fools aint pre-twisting

The Cathedral and National Museum are all supposed to be common heritage to all. I think such museums and sites should receive as much money as necessary to keep them safe and sound.
