Biggest profit you have ever made

here is a thread for some stories of your best turnover rate on profit that you made with any video game related item
This is my money maker story

i know a lot of people that work at the goodwill's that are close to my house so i am always getting good deals on random stuff that i sell on Ebay
i seen that they had a PC game called DEEP RAIDER,it was sealed and it came with a usb controller that was also a mouse.i ended up getting one for my own personal emulation center.
they worked so good i got about 5 more for right around 3.00 each
after i gave them away to all my gamer friends they all said they were the best controllers that they ever used.
a few days later i went down to the goodwill and i spoke to the lady that is super cool with me and my pops,we ended up getting around 600 sealed copies for 5 cents each
that was 1.00 per box of 20
i was selling them on ebay for 10.00 each shipped
just about a few hours ago my dad and i sold out
600 times 10.00 is a huge amount of profit
the only thing that sucks is after every sale i would have to open a box of 20 the open each one then pack it up
i spent many nights just sitting back packing them up for shipment
the most i sent out in one day was 17 of them

So whats your story

typically if such a large quantity sells out so quickly you're negating some additional potential profit ... but that's my 2 cents ... um i buy stuff all the time so i dont know ... maybe it was donkey kong land 3 new for $5 and sold for $25 .... or maybe it was something else ... hard to keep track

  • bought a pair of doc martin sickle and hammer boots that were pretty badass, but i would never wear them. paid $5 bucks for them, sold them for $250. not bad. i have never seen another pair. myriad 6 in 1 box and manual for $550... paid 5 for the box and traded a kickle cubicle box for the manual to SystemFreak image. I ended up selling the stuff to Hounder (aka, dickwad) who then sold (traded?) it to Jason Wilson to go with his matching cart.
  • 1960's yankee pennant at a flea market for $.25 and then it sold on ebay for $330 ish.
  • Posted an ad on face book looking for old NES stuff, some girl gave me all her ex boyfriends stuff for free. What was in there you ask??!?! A complete NES, an Advantage controler, 25 Super mint Boxes - Mega man, ice climber, kid Ikarus etc... AND CIB FFFAW which I sold for $305 image Still have lost of CIBs out of that lot I have yet to sell, Also got a MAX contoler with box and a power glove with manual.

    Cost to me = $0.00

    Profit = $500+
  • Okay, what's FFFAW? This is new alphabet to me. image
  • Family fun Fitness Athletic World. Lol. was new to me untill i had the game then every one was like ohh nice FFFAW image
  • are we talking profit in terms of gross (total money amount) or percentage? There is a very important distinction.

Well, I thought myself about that too.
Let's say it can be one or another, but in fact, a real BIG PROFIT sale should combine both, Gross & Percentage, like this one:

Original Game Boy (with Tetris) Factory Sealed, paid $20, sold it for $800.

Should be percentage after a certain point + gross. I mean, if I buy something for 4,000 and turn it over for 8,000, then it's the same percentage if I buy something for 2 dollars and turn it over for 4.
  • I've had a few games I've picked up ~$1 and sold in the $50 or $60 range. Some obscure unreleased vintage gaming stuff (not NES), a few harder-to-find NES and SNES are among what I've sold.

I think it should just be about net profit.

  • Well, if you do net profit and you received the item for free, then your profit would be infinite percent! image
  • I call this the "please audit me" thread image
