Your Jeep and AV look nearly identical.
  • I have an older 2004 Buick Park Ave Ultra, fun little plushy car with a potent engine that is also pretty easy/fun to wrench on. It will never be a show car but I enjoy dropping money on new or upgraded parts slowly rehabbing it. Not my current daily, but might be soon.

For example, I just drove an 8 hour trip to a junkyard for a set of "okay" shape factory chrome rims that are specific to this vehicle/model. Still had to get a slightly bent wheel straightened and then I polished em up and got a new set of tires thrown on.

I could have just kept the janky rims that were on it when I bought it but not my style.

Those bikes look great. But can someone explain to me the high-handlebars/ape-hangers? Everyone I've talked to says "it's to look cool." Raising them a little apparently helps cool your armpits, which sounds great. But the really high ones are reportedly uncomfortable and bad for handling. It seems funny to me that even the realm of "free spirit" motorcyclists is subject to keeping up with fashion trends.

I can't speak to the super tall ape hanger handlebars but for me it's a matter of style and comfort. The Sportster (pic 1) has 12" mini ape hangers on a 1" riser. (Risers give the handlebar extra height above the fork.) I originally had a drag bar (straight handlebar) on 4" risers that resulted in a more aggressive forward leaning riding position. More like a sport bike which I find uncomfortable. The mini apes brought me to a more natural position but still left me wanting a little more comfort.

The Softail has 18" apes on 1" risers. It's my ideal riding position. My hands are right about shoulder height and I have a slightly more relaxed riding position. They look pretty exaggerated in the pic without reference but they're not the sky high apes you see sometimes. Anything higher than head height, I would feel the loss of comfort and handling.

    Got a picture for us?

Honestly there isnt much to look at. The body work got done and its in primer. No interior or anything its just a shell at this point

I'm currently stuck in the mud on restoration of my '86 Z28 that I've had since 1997.  Got a 350 for it.  Spent $450 at the machine shop getting it bored .030 over and crank ground and balanced.  But now I have no money to move further.  One day though...
