I know this has been briefly mentioned on NA before but couldn't find any info. I have a Gyromite with both a matte and glossy sticker seal over it. I assume it was old stock and when the glossy stickers came out they simply put it on there to match the others?

Yes to me there is highly suspect wear on both parts of the front top of the box, and also the back crease where you will notice prominent white ridging. Would be hard to 100% verify but this would be an item I would slice open just for the peace of mind.
I think the double stickers are highly collectible. Even if they were "returns" at NOA at some point, they are a rare little piece of history. Congrats on the nice game!
Unfortunately it doesn't quite match my standards so I'm not sure if I want to keep it.. I'm one of the weirdos who would rather have a mint common game than a rare game that's thrashed.

First off, I think this game in the OP example is an opened box with signs of wear and crease opening. This would suggest that likely it was opened and there was some fault to either the game or internal contents and was returned to Nintendo. Nintendo then replaced whatever faults there were and resealed it with a secondary sticker. Purely hypothetical, but the most probable scenario in my mind.
Secondly, regarding 1upped’s statement of it being “highly collectible”, I think it’s more of a yes and no. Yes perhaps more intriguing for the variant collector. No for those who are into mint items, and particularly ones who are fussy about untouched insides of games.
