price charting questions

good morning NA! going through my collection on price charting, noticed some strange happenings.

-having two of the same game will have the same value only if entered in at the same time.

-if entered at different times, one copy will have lower value.

-collection value only reflects the value of the game at the time it was entered( ie- mega man 5 entered in 2 months ago, valued at $77. entered in today, valued at $89)

is there a way to refresh the actual collection so it reflects current values?? thanks NA!

Ah, yes, the paradox of wading through shitty choices.

Yep!  I think that trying to sell this snakeoil as an investment to mark comic book collectors is gonna bust.  But thats just me.  GVN is perfect enough, thank you for your hard work

Thank Hogie, I don't work on it anymore! I was just helping out with some front-end stuff, and he's taken it on again now that he has more time for it.

  • I would treat all sites that give values for games as a guide for prices. Don't treat them as being the set in stone prices so to speak. I always check eBay and Amazon to compare prices on price charting. If you see cart only game A for $30 on price charting, but then for $100 on eBay and Amazon, the real current going rate is probably $100 or close to it. So don't take that $5 store credit that game store is offering you for your $100 game just because they go off of price charting and its data might not be 100% accurate.

I should say price charting is usually pretty good and gives a nice average that is spot on for most games. But nothing is 100% accurate, so do your homework through multiple sources to get an accurate idea of what your game is really worth.
  • the problem with PC, it cant accurately depict all auctions. i have made a few offers on ebay on games that had super low starting bids. ill see the same games i bought on price charting, it only shows what the auction was listed for, not what was settled through pm's.

thanks for the input. gonna check out GVN
