  • I was pretty big in to collecting transformers about nine years ago. I have the complete Robots in Disguise line. But ever since 40 Year Old Virgin, I don't feel like toy collecting is the way to go anymore. image
  • I have a few spawn dudes in boxes somewhere lol. They just look so damn cool

  • well we're all toy collectors here right! action figures I never really got into.. they are cool and all but not my cuppa tea
  • My dad has a warehouse of toys from the 20's-70's. Every once in awhile he has me sell some, and let's just say that they're not cheap toys image. I think that old toys look so cool though, but I prefer video games!
  • I had a very large toy collection until 8-9 years ago when I lost my job and sold everything (including my first NES collection). I had all kinds of toys, G.I.Joe, Robotech (I am cry!), Star Wars (old and new), Spawn, you name it. The parts that I wish I'd kept were my Robotech and Tron toys.
  • I have a lot of stuff at my parents house. I don't really "collect" any toys, but I have quite a few from when I was a kid.

Mostly: He-Man (from the generation with the "battle damage" armor), Transformers (mostly Headmasters and the micromachines cross-overs), Battle Beasts, Legions of Power, Contructs, and LEGOs.
  • <--------YES  Haven't done anything with my collecting as of late, but I posted pictures on a website a long time ago:

  • I have a bunch of GI Joes still from when i was a kid, about 50 men w/ accesories and 15-20 vehicles.

  • Dain got me in to collecting but his collection was just demoralizing since he had everything LoL So I just pic up some action figures and stuff here and there when I have some spare cash at a fleamarket or Starcon. I've been seeing alot of Gi Joes in the box recently though so i might need to break down and start a collection.
  • I've still got my G.I. Joes from when I was a kid. I've also got a box full of Crash Dummies, those toys were awesome!

    nice

shit, I just noticed you're from Madison too

  • I like to collect more obscure toys from the 80s like Inhumanoids, Sectaurs, Centurions, Starriors, etc. I was mainly a Real Ghostbusters fan back then, so though I liked He-Man I was smart enough at the time to see that it really didn't make much sense the majority of the time.
  • Oh man, I remember Inhumanoids, I had most of those guys! Do you have any Silver Hawks?
  • I just had to open my Darth Vader with variant extended size light saber, because the glue on the packaging evaporated image. Its up for trades if anyone is interested. Also have some sealed figures left. Red carded storm trooper with holo sticker variant, is the only one that comes to mind atm.

Nah, don't have any of those, I didn't get into them really.  The cream of my collection, though, is a sealed, MOC The Blank.  Awesome.  I need to get it graded and put in one of those things.  Got it for next to nothing, last one I saw went for like $700.

  • ^ I assume you mean from the Warren Beatty Dick Tracy series. That's a cool piece to have. From what I remember, canada-only and the release was cut almost immediately since the figure itself was a spoiler for a major plot twist in the movie!
  • Does anybody remember Battle Beasts? Water beat fire, Fire beat Wood and Wood beat Water (because...it can float?). Those were sweet and I would consider collecting those.
  • Yeah, I used to have all of the series 1 & 2 beasts, and by the time I had the money to get series 3, couldn't find it anymore. I loved those things. Battle Beasts and Legions of Power were the last toys my brother and I had that we bought to play with, pretty much the end of childhood even though I was 14 or so at the time, my brother was 10, we had a lot of fun with these, probably my favorite toys of all time outside of He-Man. Later of coarse, when I got a job at Toys'r'us, being around so many toys, I started to collect a lot of them, this was in the mid 90s, but eventually when I called it quits on this expensive hobby I got rid of them all, gave them away, plus I didn't really have the room for all these figures and dolls, gaming was more important for me.
  • Anybody remember M.U.S.C.L.E?
  • Yep, had those too. All those pink silly looking wrestling figurines crammed into little clear plastic trash cans. It was always interesting to find out which ones you'd get in a can, some nice cool looking ones made for a great surprise, but then sometimes you'd get a bunch of stupid looking duds as well.
  • Yup, I've got dozens of Battle Beasts (all the weapons/insignias intact) and plenty of MUSCLE men at my parents' house.

As a kid, those were the easiest toys (next to LEGOs) to talk my mom into buying, since my sister and I could split a pack and both be happy.
  • I really wish I hadn't read this thread it really makes me want to start collecting the toys from my youth. I just did a search of Battle Beasts on eBay I had completely forgotten about them.

I've also been looking up TMNT figures which seem to go for a reasonable price. But I really can not afford to collect anything else at the moment.

  • ^^^ Oh, I agree completely. But I would NEVER get into collecting toys for the sake of collecting. It's everything I can do to keep my wife from buying all of the cool LEGO sets we see, to save for later image

It's much easier to keep video games in pristine condition. Toys are meant to be played with!
  • Ahhh, Battle Beasts, liked them until stupid poseurs who never even owned them as a kid started to swarm eBay with their parents money. Yep, dan, that would be the one. The story was this. Playmates was making the toy, but the makers of the movie wanted The Blank's release halted so that the movie had time to get popular and peeter out before they releaved her since, yes, it does give away the ending and shows that Breathless Mahoney is The Blank. However, the contract they had with this one single Sears store in Canada had that figure in there, so they HAD to make it for them. I believe the number is something like 100. They made them for that one store, shipped them off and that was it, never released elsewhere because after the movie was peetering off they figured screw it. The way I found it was that I had it in a worldwide search. People who want it search only in Canada and the US, so no one saw it but me. Got it from some guy in Belgium who somehow came across a crate of all the figures MOC.

Yep!  I still have all of mine, and the little wrestling ring to boot!
  • I'd be happy to sell my Battle Beasts to a douchebag spending their parents' money. image
