Major cache of Sega protos found!
I was making the rounds yesterday and found a small cache of Sega Genesis / Mega Drive prototypes. Games include After Burner II, Forgotten World, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey, Sonic the Hedgehog and others. Also possibly a Ghouls n Ghosts and an Altered Beast.
All windows are now covered , btw

Really wondering about value on these too, would you guys recommend sending them to Wata for grading and verification? Do they grade protos? Maybe VGA is a better choice?

Grading is more useful for released video games. I would not recommend using grading for protos... prototypes don't get a grade, they get "certified" and put in a box. I just bought some WATA-certified prototypes and all it meant for me was annoyance, as I had to destroy the WATA box. As a frequent buyer of prototypes (I have over 2000... including over a thousand for Sega consoles), they don't add value for me (as buyer).
Value for prototypes depends largely on what's inside. Very frequently they're final versions, in which case they're not worth that much. Sega prototypes don't have a big market unfortunately, unlike Nintendo.
If you'd like, I could take a closer look at them for you and verify and see what they might be worth. I'll send you a message.

These could have really cool changes and give a look into the minds of the developers. They need to be played and documented.

I mean WATA rips the rom and preserves the data...
I rip my games and never play them in their physical systems. All you're doing is risking damage. I can play them on an emulator anytime I want.
