how NOT to ship your games...

This is a special kind of  fucked up . Luckily it wasn't anything rare or overly valuable, but come on... A piece of paper wrapped with packing tape? At least let it get smashed up in a bubble mailer!

I couldn't find the thread on the CTCW forums, but one of the members actually got a CIB Atari 2600 game with the shipping label right on the box there was a picture and I was trying to find it
  • i recently asked an ebay seller to combine shipping on a few master system games for me and they wrote back saying the only way they could combine shipping (to make it less than paying 5.00 per game), would be to wrap the games in paper instead of a box and ship them that way. I LOL'd to myself and said no thanks.
  • thats wack for a boxed game but you could put a NES cart right in the mail and it would come out fine prolly.. maybe a few dings on the label or something
  • Oh man, it hurt to see that picture.
  • Dude if you told me it was you then I wouldn't have sent it like that.... lol j/k but yeah that really sucks. Not sure what the condition was before shipping, but you easily could have lost $15-20 in value there.
  • I have had SEVERAL people just stick sealed N64 games into a manilla envlope and pop it in the mail. Then they freak out when I bitch and send it back to them. I wish I had taken pictures. It is rather irratating, especally when you can't find a replacement.

Sorry about this man, that sucks!
  • This chump must be a newb. I haven't had this happen to me with a nintendo game, but once I ordered a vinyl record off ebay and the schmuck just jammed it into a manila envelope and wrote "Do not bend" on the front. Sure enough, the record got bent was was totally fucked up when I got it. He was at least decent enough to fully refund me, and I had to school him on how to ship records, hopefully he learned his lesson.
  • Man that sucks, seeing boxes like this makes me sad. One lady at the flea market had a PAL Megaman 2 box that looked just like this, I died a little bit inside every time I saw it.
  • Oh man, that sucks. I really need to start taking pictures of some of the ones I get.
  • That really sucks. I think this may have been DK Oldies, maybe he just ran out of bubble mailer image
  • It really sucks coming home to see your new game looking like this, even bubble wrap doesn't help, and to think shipping cost me more for this than the last new release, that came in a box.

  • So this leads me to a question, is it ever acceptable to just throw out a box? I've thrown out a Final Fantasy box before that was in even worse shape that the pictured one. I'd say the pictured one is a 4-5, mine was a 2.5 or 3 tops.
  • I guess there is a point where it's totally useless. But then again, somebody might still want it.

  • ^Wouldn't that be the same concept as keeping a rental case? I mean, virtually a rental case box is in better condition since techincally you could just cut the bad condition box.

I would probably be that somebody.  I've got a couple boxes in my collection right now that would barely pass as 2s on some of the most lenient scales of grading.

That in no way means I don't appreciate a good conditioned box, I just refuse to be picky when 90% of my stuff comes from flea markets and yard sales.  image

  • I wouldn't ever throw out a box. Even if it's completely shredded to shit, there's got to be someone out there that has no box at all that would want it.
  • lol, I shipped a loose game to Erik in a beat to shit Dragon Warrior box. It actually turned out that it was a variant that he needed.
  • Throwing out anything that has some collector value, will obviously upset someone. Would you throw out the top flap of a Myriad 6 in 1 or a cut up rental of Stadium Events? Probably not eh.
  • I had a nightmare last night that my recently aquired Flintstones 2 box was shipped like this Final Fantasy box. I was LIVID! lol, I think I may need to take a break from collecting for a while, esp if I'm dreaming about it!
