Well guys, you want to hear some info about this spanish Caltron games? As all of us know, Gluk was a company that imported games from Megasoft/NTDEC, from Asia, and they sell those games in Spanish shops and in PAL cart format, I mean the normal cart we used, not the famicom cart. As they sell their games in shops, they had to make their own boxes. That's why Gluk games are boxed and were sold in spanish shops.
But... if Caltron 6 in 1 was distributed in Spain also, which company imported it? I've got the info to solve this, there was a little company in Spain called GAMIX, this company used to import the same games as GLUK but in famicom format, for clonic consoles, I mean, cosmos cop, booky man, adam & eve, etc... but their main action in the spanish market was... RENT GAMES !! that's why they didn't make boxes for this games. They imported the games and RENT them in spanish shops or videoclubs, but we have a surprise in this small company, they imported also CALTRON 6 IN 1 to spain, in PAL cart format, big cart I mean, and they put their back grey label. That's why spanish Caltron releases don't have box or manual, because Gamix imported them cart only, as the other games they imported, and they used to rent them their own rental cases. Do you want guys some proof of this? just take a look to the games they used to rent, we can se Booky Man, Cosmos Cop, etc... we can see their logo GAMIX with NTDEC.
So... this games are legit? of course they are legit, more than a 1 euro coin and more than some guys at this forum, ehem ehem. You can check the NTDEC logo in the GAMIX rental case, you can check the code of this games in the labels CN-02, CN-03 .... and we can see CN-11 in the Caltron label. Are this games rare ? I think they're rarer than NTSC version of Caltron, why? because Caltron in USA was done to be sold in shops, with box and manual, and Caltron for Spain was only released to be rent, in small quantities, from a small company.
Why Gamix imported this kind of cart or games? because they had a clonic console, like we can see in the pic, in this clonic console you can use famicom carts and normal pal carts, they imported lots of famicom format carts, and Caltron 6 in 1 to be used with their console. Why they released Caltron also? because it was a recopilation of some of the games that they imported.
That's all the truth guys, and all the people with a Caltron with grey/blue label has a little piece of gold in their hands, as they have a really rare game.
I don't know if this game was also imported to any other country or not.
Just check the pics:
So I think you have here some proofs that this is the only truth, if anyone is interested in one of this caltron let me know, I can maybe get you a cart. Thanks guys !!
Good info Robe24, however we have no evidence in the US as if caltron was sold in shops. from what i have seen A LOT have been former rentals, while a bunch were found sealed at a thrift store.
There are different 6-1 variations throughout the world. Australia seemed to get the same one that Spain got (the one you have pictured). The US got the two (black and blue back labels) and myriad, somewhere in Scandinavia they also got a boxed version with the odd artwork. Brazil got their own boxed plastic case version and different style cart, but with a caltron label.
That's the reason why they haven't got boxes, they were only for rental purposes. Should be really hard to get all the Caltron 6 in 1 variations hehehe
Ok, good info Robe. Here is a pondering question though. If these were rentals only, and you bought them from a guy who had a store from years ago. Why did he have 7 (at least 7), cart for rental purposes. Most people would only have 1, 2, maybe 3 copies available for rent. And they would have been opened and used
Also, for calling this a piece of gold and saying how rare it is, you had to post a price check about these not to long ago asking what they were worth. Obviously you've done some research since. Obviously this game is freakin rare. But I would be cautious of calling it more rare than the NTSC version. Can anyone else confirm it's rarity of this level?
Have you ever come across a rental case for it like the others in the pics?
I would venture to say this version is more rare, but this is just a guess. Caltron carts are VERY hard to come by in the US, but they pop up from time to time and there are a number of people with complete ones. There are very few people (that I know) who have this Caltron variation.
Well, I said, I THINK is rarer than ntsc version hehehe that's not mean it's rarer, but before I found those carts, I think was only known 1 or 2 cart with this label, that's why I think this.
And the reason why the guy I bought them has more than 2 or 3, is that the guy I bought them had a shop, and he used to buy those games to sell them in his little shop, he said he bought a box full of them years ago, and he was selling them little by little, when I talked to him he still have some left, so I bought them all, I'll ask him later if he still have some more hehehe. He didn't rent them, and he bought directly from Gamix, and he told me the history of Gamix I told you before, that's what he told me.
Well, my info is that they were for rental purposes only, and they imported CART ONLY for all the games, but if anyone find a box of this games just post it here !!
This is completely off the track of the thread, but I wanted to ask for some opinions. OneColdMonkey bought one of Robe24's carts and asked about being included on the NTSC rare games list.
It's my understanding that while these were distributed in Europe and Australia, that they are in fact NTSC and won't play on PAL systems. Am I correct on this? I just want to make sure my facts are straight.
I'm not planning a separate category, OCM just wanted to know if his cart qualified to have him included on the list of Caltron owners that's already there. What are your thoughts on that?
Well, I don't know if you should add him to the list or not, of course it's the same game, but that depends of the list you want to do, only NTSC Caltron's or all kind of caltrons, as they have lots of variants, like myriad, the brazilian version, even the famicom cart version.

So no box exists for this one? Or just hasn't been confirmed?

I don't know if i would put this on the rare game list though
Hey now! I don't need your sass!
No sass! I meant it in a "great minds think alike" kinda way.
