Entertainment center

I'm moving into my new house this week and I can finally for the first time set up a whole room dedicated to my video gaming collections. I always wanted to have a enterainment center that would highlight all the systems and games I have. I looked around at the department stores to see what kind they sell but nothing they have comes close to what I had imagined. I was wondering how many of you guys built your own entertainment centers to showcase your collections? and also if you have any ideas for me what the best way to set one up. Thanks

  • I would have to reccommend one of these, minus the big dopey guy (me), then insert lots of cool systems. image

That is my plan anyways. Once I have the space the Giant NES will be my entertainment center filled with all my consoles. There is 2 levels so room for lots of systems.

Xmas gift from my brother-in-law Xmas 2005. We're not that tight, he double-dipped for a vocational institute final project, and my wife came up with the idea and bought the hardwood as a gift to me.

It holds a full NTSC set in the 5 drawers. I'm keeping the pal-excl's and 5-screw variants in the right-bottom drawer. The decoration has changed a lot since this old picture, currently it's also home to something like 500 DVD and VHS movies/TV series on the top and lower shelf.
  • flyingducky... I am almost done buildiong my house now, I am setting up a games room as well. I was going to have a cusom unit made to hold all 15+ systems around the tv etc... it was quoted at $3500.

If you want, Sears home stores carry a very ideal entertainment unit and you can 'make' your own by picking pieces of it. They are actually really ideal for displaying consoles and games. I didnt get a quote though. Maybe check it out.

I was in a Canadian Sears, US should have something similar though.

  • I would enjoy seeing pictures of your room when your done Curtis. i'll look into what sears has since i also live in BC. so far I still think custom making a unit would be best, since i also want to display all the systems i have at once as well as the games, etc.
  • I built my own, since I do carpentry for a living.
  • Do you have any pictures Jaredkk?
  • I bought a bunch of shelves from a drug store they work great movable shelves
