Hi, I'm Dastari and I'm a NESaholic
Hello folks. I go by the name of Dastari when I'm online.
I have been a Nintendo fan since 1986 when my grandparents bought my brothers and I a combined present in the form of the original NES "control deck" series, the one that came only with Super Mario Bros and two controllers. This replaced our Atari quickly and we never looked back. Over the years I stopped playing Nintendo for a while but then I got married to a woman whose parents never let her own a video game system even though she wanted one and now I have a daughter. I got out my old NES, which I had always hung on to along with my games and have since gone on a quest to collect every NES game that I was ever interested in playing. I've also picked up a few of the "new" ones that various fans have made and am steadily playing through them and trying to introduce my wife to the games. So far she has only beaten the Legend of Zelda but she beat both quests and I'm very proud of her.
Now I only have 7 more games on my list to complete my collection of games that I always wanted to play and beat but never had the opportunity.
So otherwise I just wanted to hang out here and see what kinds of topics pop up. I'm glad to be here and hope to make some acquaintances.
See you around!

Welcome aboard mate. I would say bring the wife along but yea We like the ratio of about 10000 to one. But bring her aboart if she gives nice controller shots. The more females the less pressure I;m under.

Ha! My wife has hardly gotten into video games as much as I but she does appreciate being able to play these things that her parents never let her have. She has beaten both quests of Legend of Zelda though, which makes me proud.
Don't people realize how difficult it is to remove their name, written in permanent marker, from game cartridges???
Gameboyricky, I hear ya man. It makes me wonder why anyone did this in the first place. Did they really think that a thief would come into their house and not steal the NES games because their name was on it? Or did they do this because they lent a lot of games to their friends? I used to trade games temporariliy with my friends a LOT and if I ever felt that I couldn't trust one of them enough with my game so much that I had to write my name on the cartridge then I would never have lent it in the first place. Bizarre!
About the marker on the carts......We did it at our house so there was no question if it was your game or not. Also things change between friends. You could trust them, loan them a game, and a few days later get in a fight and hate them. Then you have to go to that kids parent an tell them that their son had your game. It was easier to prove to the parent if it had your name on it. The kid couldn't say it was borrowed from another kid.
I have kept all those games and they are currently in my collection. I wil never upgrade those carts to better looking ones.

I had a friend growing up and her mom insisted that she put her initials on all her toys. Barbie's Feet, NES games, etc. It wasn't such a bad idea though because we'd swap stuff all the time and after a while it would get confusing as to who originally owned what toy. Then if we got a group of kids all swapping stuff it could get crazy. So the marker thing I totally understand.
