EDIT: GOAL! PROTO from the ebay NWC seller..

Like the title says, I think this guy has an unreleased proto he will be selling soon. I was the one who posted his story in the forum, and now have another interesting message from him. Here is his message:

"Alex right?? I was wondering if you could throw something out there on NintendoAge for me, I looked through the dozen or so games I have and one has a paper label marked GOOL! I don't currently have a working nintendo so I can't play it to see what it is, but I was wondering if you mentioned it maybe they could dig something up. Let me know other than that the auction seems to be going good, and still have alot of time left. Thanks Brad"

  • I bet the game in question is GOAL! the soccer game.
  • The first thing that comes to my mind is GOAL! being misspelled. Of course, I don't know for sure.

edit: i thought i could add a link here and hide the actual address, but i dont know how. anyway, i went to google and typed in GOOL... that is what popped up! however, lots of soccer site popped up too, so that would be my guess!
  • Wow, I feel retarded that I didnt make that comparison. Sent him a message on it. Im sure we will be seeing it up for bid soon. I wouldnt expect that proto / demo to go over $90 though
  • alex i just noticed your avatar. that isnt the 2nd place NWC trophy is it?
  • No, its not the NWC trophy. Its actually a trophy from the Yearly Nintendo Awards. The award is made by the same company that makes the oscars. I purchased it from the Nintendo rep that won the award. I would love to trade it anyday for the 2nd place NWC trophy. image

I think you're right with your estimate.  Less then desirable prototypes like GOAL! tend to sell around $50-$100.

  • what would the NES Final Fantasy or Solar Jetman go for?

Solar Jetman I would price between $75-$125.  If someone like you sees it, and it's a game you loved as a child, then it might go higher.  It's not particularly desirable tough, so I don't think it would command too much more.

Final Fantasy would be anyone's guess.  It most certainly wouldn't be cheap though.

Where did you get your SCAT prototype?

  • In Maui on my honeymoon. Bought it for $10.

Wow, that's fantastic!! That could be one of the better prototypes stories I've heard.

  • what was funny is the guy didn't even know he owned it. It was in a stack of games against the wall. Once he saw it, he wasn't going to sell it. He said he wanted to find out how much it was worth. I talkd to him for an hour and talked him into selling it to me.
