What Method Do You Use To Keep Track of you Nes Collection?

Just wondering what type of system you all use in keeping track of everything? Looking for some better methods!

  • RFgeneration has the best collection tool on the web as of right now: http://www.rfgeneration.com/

Register there and take a look, I've yet to find anything that I like nearly as much. It's not limited to NES stuff either, you can catalog all your games and systems there.
  • I started with NGD's NES game list, but have done some very heavy reformatting. I'm also adding in variants as I come across them, along with exclusive pack-ins (like company specific flyers). I'd recommend his list a lot, especially for all the non-USA games listed on it.
  • I used to use RFGeneration and can definitely recommend it as well, it's currently the best online collection tool. I also switched to a personalized spreadsheet though that originated from NGD's list when I started getting tons of variants, homebrews, etc in. IMO if you have a versatile collection and like to keep track of every little detail (i.e. authentic or aftermarket styrofoam piece, type of dustcover, etc, etc) then a personalized spreadsheet is the way to go.
  • My arm. Its getting a bit full.
  • I wrote an ezine article about this a couple months ago...with collecting tools in the thread.

    Thanks man!  That's awesome.

  • Mine is epically archaic. Back when I first though of keeping track of what I have (2001) I printed out the Official "Master" list from nintendo. Since then I've been checking the games off on those sheets of paper ever since to keep track of games I've played and beat. I also use the backs of the sheets for gameplay notes.

When I get a game that's not on the list (ie all the unlicensed and several others) I simply write them down at the bottom of the column. More recently, I created a list on my webspace here detailing the games I DON'T have. Seeing as homebrew and pirate are of little to no interest to me (case by case basis whether I get one), I'm not too worried about keeping track of them. So now when I get something new, I just update both lists.

Inefficient and kinda crappy, but for some reason I find updating the lists very enjoyable.
  • i couldnt find game collectorz on my iphone. what is the app called??
  • I need to start tracking my collection, right now all the carts are sitting on a shelf..

I have no idea what games I do and don't have.. It's madness.... MADNESS!!

MRN, I searched the ezine archive but couldn't locate it.  Could you post a link?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find it either and meant to ask.

Just a quick tip. If you like MRN's format and would like the ability to view and edit it from anywhere the nsave it on your computer and upload it to Google Documents. Viola, an online, editable and viewable spreadsheet. image
