  • I don't think you have to have a certain number of games to call yourself a collector.
  • there are not set numbers.. I have about 150 or so games myself..

Do I consider myself a collector? OF Course...

I think it is more of a mindset then a quantity that makes you a collector..
  • There is no set requirement. Anybody who claims there is a minimum ownership requirement to be considered a "collector" is just being a snob.
  • I guess you'd have to have at least 1 to be called a collector. Other than that, I think anything goes.

Agreed. I think you're a collector when you wake up in the morning, and the first thing you think is, "I wonder what games I'll find at the Thrift Store/Flea Market/Dumpster today!"

EDIT: Oh, or 42. Deep Thought said so.

  • i have a little over 500 atm, when i was younger and couldn't afford to buy many games i still considered myself a collector because i always kept what i had. its not the size of the collection that matters, its all about having fun with it and making it enjoyable.
  • i think the official number is 23 of which atleast one is sealed
  • once admit it to the woman that is sleeping with you... than you are a collector ^_^

    I agree with this. image

Don't let other people determine your path for you. If you have one game, and YOU think it's a collection, then it is.
  • I think the official number is actually 42.
  • I heard it was 72 and 1/3 to be a real collector.

    ~~NGD
  • I heard it was 69 or 420 depending on who you used and how they were feeling!!!
  • i have about 75 different dress shirts, but i dont collect them, per se.

if you can justify WHY you consider yourself a collector, then to me, you are a collector. say you have 4 mega man items (2 games for nes, 1 for snes, and 1 for gg) and you call yourself a mega man collector. true, your collection sucks in comparison to others, but it is something you enjoy and will pick up other items for cheap if the opportunity presents itself. in that case, if you consider yourself a collector, good for you... i would consider you one too.

    numbers mean nothing.

i am a collector of reasonably priced NWT armani suits. i also collect $5 SE carts. needless to say, i have zero of these in my "collection"
  • I would also like to get into collecting $5 SE carts as well.

The fact that you took the time to count and/or estimate the quantity means you do collect them.  The fact that you flash your moobs while wearing them makes you a goober.
  • haha nah... i usually do laundry after about 2 months, and i am through about half of the shirts by that time, so i figure like 70-80 is a good estimate! image although, in actuality, i probably have things with tags still on them that are a year old, and i probably still have stuff from 2 years ago that i dont wear anymore. image

  • "... try not to ____ ___ ____ on the way to the parking lot."- THATS the best line in the flick!!
  • 26 is the magic number for collectors. 25 is just a gamer.
  • this is what 37 refers to--- for adults only image

  • *sigh* Your all wrong...

If were talking about what it takes to be considered an nes collector, you have to own at least 1 copy of the following:

seicross, silent service, captain skyhawk, fighting golf, anticipation & chessmaster

Id say then your on your way to being pretty h4rdcor3 1337 n3s coll3ct0r

Yes. This is the answer to life, the universe, and collecting.

  • I'd say if you've every bought a game just to add it to the collection rather than having an intent to actually play it then you're a collector image
  • You're a collector whenever your friends think that you aren't normal, or when you have to bring up the whole "Oh btw I collect videogames" when you are out on a date.
  • I don't think there is a certain number that is needed in order to be considered a collector, but I do think that you should have at least one thing that stands out above the rest of your games either in quality, rarity, or age.
  • I think anyone can be a collector at heart. But I think a true collector is someone who when you walk into their house/apt/room, you know right away what their deal is.
