I thought about it, and the absolute LOWEST I would go for my entire collection as it stands is $4,000. Although it would hurt me greatly to sell at that price, and there'd have to be something seriously wrong for me to sell. *knocks on e-wood*
It all depends... I've got quite a bit of rare and hard-to-find stuff (SE loose, Caltron NTSC blue back CIB, the only boxed Brazilian Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak in the US, Garage Cart, Chunkout 2 Champion Edition, 3 Miracle Pianos that are at worst boxed (the NES one is 100% complete, the SNES one is missing earbuds), stacks of imports and RPGs, etc.). Given where my collection stands presently, if someone walked up to me with $30,000 right now, I'd *consider* selling. If I needed the money fast, though, that number would be closer to $15,000.
Not sure. Things have been rough for a while now, I actually spent some time thinking about selling my NES stuff since all this is the most valuable stuff I have, but I'd really have a hard time parting with any of it, I started my NES collection 10 years ago, spent 5 years playing nothing but that, and while I barely touch it but once in a while now, still, I'm very attached to it, kinda like a best friend. But if somehow I had to sell it all, I'd ask for twice or more of what it all cost me ($2000+), probably'd ask somewhere between $4000-$5000, which would also include all my Nintendo Power and anything else so there'd be no reminders of what I had. But I think no matter what the reason for selling, it'd devastate me, I'd have to cut all ties to it, which would mean no more game forums. Sure I could play roms, use those as substitutes, but like with some of the SNES games I've been playing lately by emulator, it'd just make me long to have it all again.
I already sold off my collection. Got $5500 for it. It was all NTSC games except stadium events and every PAL title not released in the US except devil world. 99% loose carts.
Not doing it. I've had some of these games since I was 6. In a financial crisis I'd rather live off ramon noodles and kraft cheese. Back when we were house hunting and trying to come up with a down payment my husband casually suggested making some personal sacrifices and I made it clear that the games have been along longer than he has.
I'm not in this hobby for the money. When I was a kid my dad collected films (well he does still) and it was awesome what he was able to share with me and my brother. I'd like to do that someday for my own family.
Enough to completely pay off all my student loans and my truck and any other debt I was in. Seeing as it's not even worth a fraction of that, I dont see it happening. Selling my collection would basically be selling my favorite hobby permanantly.
I've been doing this the past couple of weeks, out of my own free will. So far I'm at about a grand, and have sold less than 100 carts, and only 6 CIBs. Granted, most of the carts that have sold are the 'last 100' on most people's lists, but I'd be content with a final tally of anything over 2 grand. Plus, I'm keeping around 80 games I actually like (generally most popular games minus castlevania series).
When I completed my NTSC set, I seriously considered selling because the 'collecting' was done, now it was simply 'storing' since my wife won't let me 'display'!! But then all the effort would be for nothing, so I am keeping it all. If a fellow collector offered me $5K, I'd be tempted. For all my games and systems, add another $2k. I'd do the math for how much I've money I've spent on the collection, but that scares the hell out of me! Ha!
I'd cash out at around 4-5 k. I've got a good deal of systems and some rare items that'd make it well worth it. I started collecting wanting to sell on-line so everything I own is pretty much up for sale at the right price. I know though I've got some items I'll never come across again for the price I picked them up at, so... I'm reluctant to let them go, ya know?

Nah my stuff ain't worth 5k.
Why do you say that? I'm sure you have a very nice game Collection.
Thats What I think.
It's not worth that, or probably even close, so I doubt I'll be selling out any time soon.

Goodbye fun, hello money.
No thanks.
It would take a hell of a lot of money for me to sell all my stuff....I know it's worth a ridiculous amount by now...
Come on, there has to be some crazy high amount that would get you to sell out.. Couple Million dollars?
Knowing you, you would just start all over again..
