what styro came with Mc Kids?

going through these boxes, i noticed that the "styro" inserts in both mc kids boxes were these hollow white cardboard things. has anyone else seen this, and is this what came inside of sealed mc kids boxes???

also, i found this insert scratch-off lottery ticket thing from a rollerblade racer box. has anyone seen one of these before?

  • Scratch It!

That'd be hillarious if you won. If there wasnt rules stating an end date i would demand I receive the prize, whatever it may be.
  • Come on, you know you want that pair of Lightning in-line skates!
  • ^^ You could shave lightning bolts on the sides of your head, slap on some hammer pants and a neon fanny pack, and tear the city up!
  • I have one of those styro cardboard things as well, I got it along time ago. Not sure what game it was in, but I took it out and replaced it with an actual one. I figured it was some stores way to replace styro's. But I did always wonder about it.

I've never seen the scratchy thing, I think you should scratch it. Skate or die bro.
  • tusky, the cardboard styro thing HAD to come in the mc kids game. out of the 600 boxes that came with styros, i got 2 mc kids boxes and BOTH had this thing in there. no clue why they wouldve used this, but now i wouldnt consider a mc kids complete without one! image
  • Seth I had that same cardboard styro in Captain Planet box I just sold Battymo. I thought it was a environmental thing but then I looked in my collection copy and it's a regular styro. I agree with Tusky this was just some places way of cheaply replacing missing styros. My M.C. Kids all have regular styros in them.
  • thats too much of a coincidence. these 2 mc kids came from different rental stores and both have this 'styro' insert.

did you open your mc kids from a sealed copy? it would make sense that there is a real styro in there instead of these, but the chance that both of my mc kids have these in them when nothing else does is just strange.
  • I got a minty mint MC Kids game once that also had that exact same cardboard styro...I was also a bit skeptical, but it came in a lot of mint NTSC games that all seemed as good as new, so it's unlikely someone swapped that one styro. Mine + your two make this more than just a coincidence image

I also got a Rollerblade Racer with that insert a few weeks ago...I thought there was an expiration date on there, though.
  • this makes me think there is a 99.9% chance that this cardboard spacer came with the mc kids game! it HAD to.

i threw that insert back into the box, so i dont know if it had an expiration date or not on there!
  • I just opened up my torn, sealed dupe and it has the cardboard insert
  • Congrats to seth! looks like you picked a winner, now to search the place for that card board insert I may have tossed.

I bet it was cause of mcdonalds involvement. They must be pro environment.
  • Two things:

I just checked my MC Kids box and can also confirm it has the cardboard and not a styro.

The other thing...when this game came out was right about the same time McDonalds was changing all of their packaging from styrofoam to paper wrappers because of how hard the enviornmentalists we're coming down on them for using things that weren't biodegradable, and there is little doubt in my mind that since this game was originally intended as a promotional tie-in that this is the reason for the lack of styro on this game.
  • Humn... well my collection copy of M.C. Kids is sealed and I just squeezed the bottom end of the box where the styro would be and it sure gives alot more than boxes with normal styros do. I like the environmental thought on this could definetly be the case here.
  • strange... we learn something new about this stuff every day! image
