Is NES collecting finally going down
I would like everyones opinion on this topic.
I have noticed prices of games quite low recently, other than a few select titles that have risen or stayed the same. I haven't really been following the economy's issues lately but I am doing. That in mind is the economy to blame for these lower than average prices or is the nintendo collecting turing into atari collecting

In order to really say that the hobby itself is in decline, we'd need to compare it to eBay sales in general. If eBay volume has decreased since January, let's say, then we can use that as a baseline and compare Nintendo sales to that.
Generally people's perceptions of a declining market are based on individual experience. As in, they sold a game, and it went low, and they think the sky is falling...or they put in some bids and they wound up winning stuff cheap, and the item didn't seem to even get the pageviews it warranted.
But these effects could be observed even two years ago when NES was in its heyday.
I work with a SHITTON of numbers directly related to NES games on eBay on a monthly basis, and even I couldn't tell you if this market is truly in decline compared to the rest of eBay. I don't have the broader numbers, but eBay did report a "modest decline" for Q2 year-over-year.
But yes, it IS summer. An yes, a few big collectors HAVE annouced they're selling - but there are ALWAYS big collectors selling off. Our community is thousands strong, it's going to happen. It has, and it will.
Right now, the big games are being bought for real money. We've had massive sales over the past few weeks, including every top-rarity game in one big purchase for top dollar. Stadium Events is holding its value. And month-to-month, the more common games seem to still hold their value as well.
I won't say the market is strong, because really very few markets are strong now. But all things being equal, we're fine. I know I've tightened up my spending, but everyone has.

That's a really good point, I like this perspective, and I haven't been worried, every market is down right now, as soon as people have more economic faith restored I think a lot of things including nes collecting will stabilize
